Abstract
A Battery Pack includes a container A1 having sufficient number of batteries for a full day operation is formed to be electrically coupled to an existing battery receptacle C1. It further includes an adapter A2,A3 which engages the battery receptacle. A belt consists of two or more packs coupled to a power consuming device. In this way, the device draws power from several batteries at the same time. Therefor the time between battery replacement is increased significantly.
Description
Universal Portable Battery Pack for Electrical Hand Held Device. 1. Introduction
The current invention relates to containers that hold and electrically connect batteries with power consumption hand held construction device.
Typical electrical hand held device is usually powered by conventional commercially - available type batteries i.e. "Click - In, Click - Out" fastener. Those batteries are generally inserted into specially adapted slots/sockets/receptacles within the electrical device. The receptacles themselves are generally designed to accommodate only the specific size / type and number of batteries required to power the particular device. In this manner, the shape and size of the battery receptacle prevents the user from unwittingly using too many, too few, or the wrong size / type of batteries.
Battery receptacles are generally located on the back of or underneath the power-consuming device. Replacing the batteries in these receptacles can be relatively time-consuming process that requires presence of a battery charger in the work area. This type batteries has several disadvantages:
Charging in Hot and Cold Weather
• In very hot or very cold weather, it is nearly impossible to recharge the batteries with conventional commercially available Battery Charger.
Frequent Charging (especially in hot weather):
• It shortens significantly the life of the Rechargeable Batteries and the life of the Battery Charger due to frequent cycle of charging a battery that is not completely discharged.
• It requires that electricity will always be available on site.
• It means that batteries will have to be recharged during different hours of the day-when temperature and humidity are not at the optimum range for charging batteries according to manufacturers specifications.
• Memory Effect - due to the memory effect of NiCd batteries, if the battery is not completely discharged, the battery will not provide the maximum potential.
2. Defining & Describing the Patent.
The Battery Pack includes a container or a case, which contains sufficient batteries for a full day operation of a hand held device. The battery pack is formed to be electrically coupled in a parallel circuit to an existing battery receptacle. It also includes an adapter, which electrically engages the existing battery receptacles and thereby electrically couples the battery receptacles to the container housing batteries.
The belt consists of at least one pack or more packs (usually two packs), each of which contains several rechargeable batteries. The batteries are arranged in a circuit which is in electrical communication with the adapter. A negative and a positive lead extend through the case and the adapter and engage negative and positive terminals in the battery receptacles, thereby electrically coupling the batteries in a circuit to the power-consuming electrical device.
In this way, the power-consuming device draws power from several batteries at the same time. Therefore, the battery pack supplies the electrical device with power for a longer time than a single battery of the same voltage. Therefore, the time between battery replacement is increased significantly.
Drawing - Figure 1.

Charging the Batteries - Item "A3".
Adapter "A3" is designed to be used in conjunction with a battery charger "A4". Its primarily purpose is to hook into the Battery Charger "A4" so the batteries in the Battery Pack can be recharged. The connector consists of a Male connector "C2" on one end; an electrical cable and a special adapter "A3" designed to fit into a particular Battery Charger.
Connecting to the Hand Held Tool - Item "A2".
Adapter "A2" is designed to be used in conjunction with the tool. Its primarily purpose is to be connected to the tools slots/sockets/receptacles. The connector consists of a Male "C2" connector on one end; an electrical cable and a special adapter "A2" designed to fit into a particular power consuming electrical device
Claims
Claims:
The Battery Pack is a modular system that is based on soldering rechargeable battery cells for any required electrical capacity - Voltage and Amperage. It is therefore; suitable and adaptable for all types of non-corded (cordless) power consuming electrical device. The Battery Pack in itself is universal. A given belt can be used for all types of devices, provided it is the same Voltage
