Verfahren zum Empfang und Verfahren zum Senden eines Broadcast- oder Multicast-Dienstes in einem Funkkom unikationssys- tem sowie Empfangsstation und SendestationMethod for receiving and method for sending a broadcast or multicast service in a radio communication system as well as receiving station and transmitting station
The invention relates to a method for receiving and a method for transmitting a broadcast or multicast service in a radio communication system, as well as a corresponding receiving station and a corresponding transmitting station.
The 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Program) currently specifies procedures to send the same data to many users. This standardization work is dealt with under the term Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Service (MBMS).
Broadcast services are services that are transmitted from a transmitting station to all stations that are within the radio range of the transmitting station. The sending station sends data that can be used by all accessible stations. This includes, among other things, information about the spread codes to be used in a radio cell of a cellular radio system with CDMA multiplex component (CDMA: Code Division Multiple Access) or about the transmission power to be selected by mobile stations.
Beispielsweise können mit Multicast- Diensten gezielt ausgewählte Stationen mit neuer Software versorgt werden (Software download) .Multicast services, on the other hand, are transmitted simultaneously from one transmitting station to all stations in a multicast group to be defined before the signal transmission. The data transmitted in this way is only received by a certain group of accessible stations. For example, multicast services can be used to selectively supply selected stations with new software (software download).
The data transmitted using broadcast or multicast services can contain both useful data and signaling data. hold and their transmission can take place with different data rates.
In gegenwärtigen mobilen Funknetzen (z.B.
Service with a low data rate (e.g. 32 kbps) can be provided, which is transmitted over a channel of the radio network. The service is multiplexed in the core network (e.g. CBC Common Broadcast Channel) on the basis of message type identifiers. The radio resource which is used for the broadcast service is known to the subscriber station by reading the cell information which is transmitted to all subscriber stations as broadcast information in the entire radio cell.
Es sollten auch parallel unterschiedliche MultimediadiensteNew demands are now being made on the networks, which above all should enable high data rates (> 64 kbps) and dynamic allocation of the radio network resources to individual broadcast and / or multicast services. Different multimedia services should also be used in parallel
The different MBMS services are provided by the core network as separate data streams. The radio network is expected to multiplex the data on one or more radio channels.
The invention is therefore based on the object of specifying a method which enables the reception and transmission of MBMS services with high data rates with dynamic allocation of radio resources.
This object is achieved with the method, the receiving station and the transmitting station according to the independent claims.
Advantageous further developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent claims. In the method according to the invention for receiving a broadcast or multicast service in a radio communication system with a broadcast channel and a control channel, a receiving station in the control channel receives first information about the broadcast or multicast service, the receiving station receives second information about the in the broadcast channel Broadcast or multicast service and the receiving station receives the broadcast or multicast service using the two pieces of information. In this way, the information required to receive the service can be distributed over both channels in such a way that the channel with the largest transmission capacity and / or the channel which causes the least interference carries the most information. Furthermore, the information required for receiving the broadcast or multicast service can be transmitted separately from the data of the broadcast or multicast service. This enables high data rates and dynamic allocation of radio resources by means of the first and / or second information received independently of the data.
It is advantageous if the first information contains a request to receive the second information. The receiving station can thus receive a broadcast or multicast service which, for example, only requires first information at a first point in time in order to be received. In order to save resources, or if, for example, the transmission capacities of the control channel are insufficient at a second point in time, the first information contains a request to receive the second information in the broadcast channel. The total information required to receive the broadcast multicast service can be distributed dynamically between the first and second information and the reception of the first and second information can also be controlled dynamically by the content of the first information. It is particularly advantageous if the first information states whether the second information has changed compared to an earlier transmission. In this embodiment of the invention, the second information can contain information that is required to receive the broadcast or multicast service, but remains constant over a certain period of time. Before the broadcast or multicast service begins, the receiving station receives both the first and the second information once, receives first information in the control channel during the broadcast or multicast service and only receives second information again in the broadcast channel if there is changed them since the last reception.
It is therefore expedient if the first and / or the second information is transmitted periodically.
It is highly advantageous if the receiving station receives cell information in the broadcast channel about at least the radio cell in which the receiving station is located. Such a broadcast channel (BCCH: Broadcast Control Channel) is transmitted regularly in each radio cell, so that no additional broadcast channel is required to carry out the method according to the invention. In particular, such a broadcast channel can be read automatically by each receiving station that is moving into a new radio cell, so that a receiving station can automatically receive the second information.
It is also advantageous if the receiving station first receives the cell information, then the first information and finally the second information.
In the method according to the invention for transmitting a broadcast or multicast service in a radio communication system with a broadcast channel and a control channel a sending station in the control channel sends first information about the broadcast or multicast service, the sending station sends second information about the broadcast or multicast service in the broadcast channel and the sending station sends the broadcast or multicast service using the two information.
Further developments in the transmission process correspond to the further developments in the reception process.
The receiving station and the transmitting station according to the invention have all the means for carrying out the corresponding methods.
The invention is explained in more detail below with reference to exemplary embodiments shown in the figures.

Radio communication systems are in particular any mobile radio system, for example according to the GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) or UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) standard. Future mobile radio systems of the 4th generation, for example, are also to be understood as radio communication systems.
The invention is described below using the example of a mobile radio system according to the UMTS standard, but without being restricted thereto.
Die vierte Mo- bilstation MS4 empfängt den Broadcast- oder Multicast-Dienst BMS nicht sondern ausschließlich die Zellinformationen ZI sowie zweite Informationen 12.1 schematically shows a radio access network UTRAN with a radio access controller RNC and a base station BS with a transmitting device S and four mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3, MS4. The mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3, MS4 each have a transmitting and receiving device SE. Via a broadcast channel BCCH, the mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3, MS4 receive cell information ZI about the radio cell Z in which the mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3, MS4 are located. The cell information ZI contains all information that the mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3, MS4 need in order to be able to use radio connections in the radio cell Z. For example, the cell information ZI provides information about the radio resources used by channels used in the radio cell Z. The cell information ZI gives the mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3, MS4, for example, information about the spreading code used by a control channel MCCH, which is used to receive first information II via a broadcast or multicast service BMS. Three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 are assigned to the broadcast or multicast service BMS, ie want to receive this service BMS or are provided for reception from another side, for example from the radio access network UTRAN. The fourth mobile station MS4 does not receive the broadcast or multicast service BMS but only the cell information ZI and second information 12.
On the basis of the cell information ZI, the three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 are able to receive first information II, which are transmitted on the control channel MCCH. The mobile stations require the first information II in order to receive the broadcast or multicast service BMS on a common traffic channel MTCH. In addition to the cell information ZI - preferably integrated into the same hierarchical structure that is also used by the cell information ZI - all mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3, MS4 receive the second information 12 from the radio access network UTRAN via the broadcast channel BCCH Information 12 is required by the three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 in addition to the first information II in order to receive the broadcast multicast service BMS. The second information 12 has no function for the fourth mobile station MS4 as long as it does not want to receive the broadcast or multicast service BMS.
The evaluation of both the first and the second information II, 12 enables the three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 to receive the broadcast or multicast service BMS. While the broadcast or multicast service is being received, the first and second information II, 12 are repeated periodically. During the reception of the broadcast or multicast service BMS, the three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 repeatedly receive the first information II on the control channel MCCH. The first information II contains all information about the reception of the broadcast or multicast service that changes frequently or has little signaling effort require. In the broadcasting channel BCCH, the second information 12 is the information that changes relatively rarely or requires a high signaling effort. The second information 12 is not critical for an optimal transmission of the broadcast or multicast service BMS and must therefore be received less frequently than the first information II.
The second information 12 is therefore only received if it has changed compared to an earlier reception. In this case, the first information II contains a request that the second information 12 must be received again in the broadcast channel BCCH. Only when the three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 receive this request do they receive the second information 12. This ensures that the three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 only receive and evaluate the information that they need for continuous and perfect reception of the broadcast or multicast service BMS.
In another embodiment, the first information II contains only a request to receive the second information and no further data. In extreme cases, the first information II is then represented by only 1 bit. The first information II is not sent at all if the second information has not changed since an earlier request to receive it. The three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 then only listen to the control channel during reception of the broadcast or multicast service and wait for first information II. The first information II caused by this on the control channel MCCH can therefore cause interference Minimum be reduced because the first information II can have only a few bits. The second information 12 transmitted on the broadcast channel in any case does not represent any additional load on the radio transmissions in the radio cell Z (for example with regard to interference) since the Broadcast channel due to the sent by him cell Informa ¬ ZI functions anyway periodically send information needs. The second information 12 can be easily integrated into the known hierarchical structure of the cell information ZI without the transmission of the cell information ZI being impaired.
In general, all of the information that the three mobile stations MSI, MS2, MS3 need to receive the broadcast or multicast service BMS can be distributed as desired between the first and second information II, 12. Overall, the first and second information items II, 12 contain, for example, the following information familiar to the person skilled in the art:
Halbstatische Dienst-Parameter:Semi-static service parameters:
MBMS Dienst-Flächen-Information (MBMS Service Area Information) - MBMS Dienst-Identifikation (MBMS Service Identification) , Dienstpriorität (Service Priority) , Sitzungsidentifika- tion (Session Identification)MBMS Service Area Information - MBMS Service Identification, Service Priority, Session Identification
Dynamische Dienst-Parameter:Dynamic service parameters:
Anzeige einer auf Funkressourcenkontrolle basierenden Verbin- düng (RRC Connection Establishment Indication) , Wahrscheinlichkeitsfaktor (Probability Factor) , Art der Dienstübertragung (Bearer Type (point-to-point or point-to-multipoint) ) , Konfiguration der Funkverbindung (Radio Configuration (and/or Identity) )Display of a connection based on radio resource control (RRC connection establishment indication), probability factor (probability factor), type of service transmission (bearer type (point-to-point or point-to-multipoint)), configuration of the radio connection (radio configuration (and / or Identity))
Die Konfiguration der Funkverbindung umfasst beispielsweise:The configuration of the radio connection includes, for example:
Funkverbindungsidentität (Radio Configuration Identity) , Spreizfaktor (Spreading Factor) , Kanalcodierung (Channeliza- tion Code) , Pulslänge (TTI lenght) , Transportformat (Transport Formats) , Beginn des Dienstes (Activation Time) , Dauer des Dienstes (Transmission Duration) , Periodizität (Periodi- city (DRX) )Radio configuration identity, spreading factor, channel coding, pulse length (TTI length), transport format, start of service (activation time), duration of the service (transmission duration), periodicity (periodicity (DRX))
Furthermore, the first and / or second information II, 12 can contain information about broadcast or multicast services of neighboring radio cells.
Of course, further broadcast or multicast services can also be offered in the radio cell Z, which also each transmit first information on the control channel MCCH or another control channel and also each transmit further second information required for their reception via the broadcast channel BCCH. The control channel MCCH is, for example, a group control channel, i. H. a control channel that transmits information for certain groups of mobile stations, the groups of mobile stations being assigned to one or more broadcast or multicast services. First and second information, which are assigned to different broadcast or multicast services, are each identified by a service identification parameter during transmission on the group channel. Each mobile station knows the service identification parameters of the broadcast or multicast services that the mobile station receives (its group) and therefore only receives in the group channel the information assigned to the respective broadcast or multicast services.
In Figur 2 ist schematisch ein Ablauf von Informationsüber- tragungen dargestellt, die einer Mobilstation MSI den Empfang eines Broadcast- oder Multicast-Dienstes BMS ermöglichen.FIG. 2 schematically shows a sequence of information transmissions that enable a mobile station MSI to receive a broadcast or multicast service BMS.
When entering a new radio cell Z, the mobile station MSI first receives cell information ZI and second information 12 via a broadcast channel BCCH of a radio access network UTRAN. On the basis of the second information 12 assigned to a broadcast or multicast service BMS, the Mobile station that the broadcast or multicast service BMS is offered in this radio cell Z. On the basis of the cell information ZI, the mobile station MSI knows a control channel MCCH which provides it with the first information II which it needs to receive the broadcast or multicast service BMS.
The mobile station receives the first information II and evaluates it. In the first information II, the mobile station MSI finds the time at which the broadcast or multicast service BMS starts, as well as the request to receive second information 12 on the broadcast channel BCCH before the start of the broadcast or multicast service. Following the request, the mobile station MSI receives again on the broadcast channel BCCH and, in addition to the cell information ZI, also receives the second information 12. The mobile station MSI evaluates the second information 12 and then receives on a common traffic channel MTCH at the time specified in the first information II the broadcast or multicast service BMS. The mobile station MSI has taken the radio resources of the common traffic channel MTCH from the second information 12.
The mobile station MSI then continuously receives the broadcast or multicast service BMS. The mobile station MSI constantly checks whether further first information II is transmitted on the control channel MCCH. After a time interval ΔT, the mobile station MSI finally receives further first information II, which prompts it to receive the second information 12 again, since these have meanwhile changed compared to the first reception. The mobile station MSI then again receives the second information 12 in the broadcast channel BCCH and at the same time the cell information ZI. On the basis of the updated second information 12, the mobile station MSI is still able to optimally receive the broadcast or multicast service BMS. The method according to the invention makes it possible to transmit a large part or even all of the control information required for a broadcast or multicast service in the form of the second information 12 in a broadcast channel BCCH. It is therefore sufficient that the control channel MCCH contains a request to receive the second information 12 in the first information II. Because only a minimal additional signaling effort compared to existing mobile radio systems in the form of the request on the control channel is required, only minor additional interferences occur due to the additional control channel. The broadcast channel is transmitted exactly as in previous mobile radio systems, but expanded by the second information 12. The transmission of the second information 12 therefore does not require any additional radio resources.
The invention also has great advantages in mobility scenarios:
If a mobile station MSI enters a radio cell while the transmission of a broadcast or multicast service is already running, this mobile station automatically reads the cell information ZI and the second information 12 on the broadcast channel BCCH when it enters the radio cell. Based on the second information 12, the mobile station learns whether it needs a point-to-point connection to receive the service because, for example, only a few mobile stations receive the service, or whether it is using a point-to-multipoint connection on a common one MTCH traffic channel required. After receiving the broadcast or multicast service, the mobile station that is added to the service later behaves like the other mobile stations that have already received the broadcast or multicast service, ie the mobile station may now also use the control channel MCCH. Even if the radio cell is changed, the same advantages as in the previous paragraph result from the transmission of at least the most important control information from broadcast or multicast services in the broadcast channel. In the new radio cell, the mobile station automatically first receives the cell information and, based on the second information it contains, immediately learns how it can continue to receive a service that it has already received in the old radio cell, or whether the service in the new radio cell is offered at all. If the service is not offered, the mobile station can receive a warning and, in the case of soft handovers, even a return to the old radio cell or a change to a radio cell that offers this service can be initiated (for example by the user or an automatic control or steering system of the mobile station).
