Description

Description A HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCE
[001] This invention relates to a household appliance comprising an illuminated handle providing the user with easy access and use in the darkness. [002] The household appliances for instance the dishwashers, the ovens and particularly the refrigerators comprise a door handle used in the opening and closing of the door. The door of the household appliance is opened by holding the door handle and actions like controlling the meal being cooked in the oven or picking up an item from the refrigerator by reaching the body of the household appliance are performed. If the user uses the household appliance for a short period of time, he/she does not need illumination in the environment of the household appliance and wants to open the door of the household appliance quickly in the darkness.
003] In the state of art, European Patent EP0653009 defines a door handle made of a transparent material comprising a phosphorous material, which can be seen in the dark.
004] The object of this invention is to provide a household appliance comprising a handle for the easy access and use by the user.
005] The household appliance realized in order to attain above mentioned objects of the present invention has been illustrated in the attached drawings, wherein;
006] Figure 1 is a perspective view of a household appliance.
007] Figure 2 is a schematic view of a handle comprising light sources placed in its edge part.
008] Figure 3 is a schematic view of a handle comprising light sources placed inside.
009] Figure 4 is a schematic view of a handle and a light source which is placed to the door and light of which is transmitted by a fiber optic transmitter. [010] The components shown in the figures have been enumerated as below;

[011] The household appliance (1) which is the subject of the invention, like a dishwasher, an oven or a refrigerator comprises a body (2), a door (3) providing the access inside the body, a handle (4) providing the opening of the door (3), one or more light sources (7) enabling the handle (4) to be seen by the user by illuminating the handle (4) and one or more cables (6) transferring the electricity of the power supply from the body (2) to the door (3) and the light source (7) directly.
[012] The handle (4) comprises one or more reflectors (5) for providing an efficient illumination by reflecting the light coming from the light source (7).
[013] The handle (4) is entirely or partially made of atransparent, light conducting and/or reflecting material. The said handle (4) is seen in the darkness by reflecting and/or transmitting the light received from the light source (7).
[014] A light bulb, a led group, neon lamp and etc are used as the light source (7). The said light source receives the required energy from an energy source preferably from a battery or power supply. The light source (7) is placed inside the handle (4) and the handle (4) is illuminated entirely or partially.
[015] In another embodiment of the invention, the light source (7) is placed inside the body (2) or the door (3), and the household appliance (1) comprises a fiber optic transmitter (8) passing through the handle (4) and providing the transmission of the light from the light source (7) to the handle (4) without a direct connection with the said handle (4).
[016] In another embodiment of the invention, the electricity received from the power supply is transferred from the body (2) to the door (3) and the handle (4) magnetically and converted into the electricity current.
[017] In another embodiment of the invention, the handle (4) has a rough outer surface for better reflection of the light.
[018] In another embodiment of the invention, texts and signs like trademark, symbol and logo made of different colors and materials are placed on the handle (4) and are illuminated.
[019] As the handle (2) of the household appliance (1) is illuminated by the light source
(7), the user can easily find and open the door (3) in the darkness.

Claims

Claims
[001] A household appliance (1) comprising a body (2), a door (3) providing the access inside the body and a handle (4) providing the opening of the door (3) characterized by the handle (4) which is entirely or partially made of a transparent, light conducting and/or reflecting material and is seen in the darkness by reflecting and/or transmitting the light received and, one or more light sources (7) enabling the handle (4) to be seen by the user illuminating the handle (4).
[002] A household appliance (1) as defined in Claim 1 characterized by the handle (4) comprising one or more reflectors (5) for providing an efficient illumination by reflecting the light coming from the light source (7).
[003] A household appliance (1) as defined in Claim 1 characterized by the handle (4) which is illuminated partially or entirely by the light source (7) placed inside it.
[004] A household appliance (1) as defined in any of the Claims above characterized by a fiber optic transmitter (8) passing through the handle (4) and providing the transmission of the light from the light source (7) placed in the body (2) to the handle (4) without a direct connection with the said handle (4).
[005] A household appliance (1) as defined in any of the Claims above characterized by a handle (4) having a rough surface for better reflection of the light.
[006] A household appliance (1) as defined in any of the Claims above characterized by a cable (6) transferring the electricity of the power supply from the body (2) to the door (3) and the light source (7) directly.
[007] A household appliance (1) as defined in Claim 1 wherein the electricity received from the power supply is transferred from the body (2) to the door (3) and the handle (4) magnetically, and converted into the electricity current.
