Description

AN ELECTRIC MOTOR FOR WINDSCREEN WIPERS IN MOTOR VEHICLES
This invention relates to an electric motor used for windscreen wipers in motor vehicles.
In motor vehicles such as automobiles, bus, trucks and etc., the windscreen wipers are subjected to heavy operation conditions. The said electric motors are required to be designed to perform both its function under natural factors like temperature fluctuations, rain and snow falls, and criteria related to the electrical safety.
In the state of art, EP0443017 defines a pocket on the gear housing which is open to both motor housing and gear housing. Electrical components for suppressing the noise are placed in the said pocket.. The passage of the electrical current from the gear housing to the motor housing is through the pocket.
In the prior art, EP0603083 discloses an opening on the connection table subjected to external factors for the direct transfer of the electrical current into the motor housing.
The object of this invention is to provide an electric motor used in the windscreen wipers of the motor vehicles and enhanced in terms of safety for sealing from the external environment.
The electric motor for windscreen wipers in motor vehicles realized in order to attain above mentioned objects of the present invention has been illustrated in the attached drawings, wherein;
Figure 1 is a perspective view of an electric motor,
Figure 2 is an exploded view of an electrical motor,
Figure 3 is a side view of a gear housing, Figure 4 is a bottom view of a gear housing,
Figure 5 is a perspective view of a gear housing onto which a brush holder plate and an adaptor are attached,
Figure 6 is a bottom view of a gear housing onto which a brush holder plate and an adaptor are attached,
Figure 7 is a bottom perspective view of a brush holder plate onto which an adaptor is attached,
Figure 8 is a side perspective view of a brush holder plate onto which an adaptor is attached.
The components shown in the figures have been enumerated as below:
1. Electric motor
2. Sealing member
3. Armature
4. Shaft 5. Brush holder plate
6. Motor housing
7. Gear housing,
8. Cover
9. Adaptor 10. Electric plug
11. Transmitter
12. Connection module
13. Recess 14. Shaft space
15. Inlet terminal
16. Outlet terminal
The electric motor (1) which is the subject of this invention is used to control the windscreen wipers in motor vehicles. The electric motor (1) comprises an armature (3), a shaft (4) connected to the armature, a brush holder plate (5) including components which minimize the electrical noise, a motor housing (6) in which the armature (3) and the brush holder plate (5) are placed, a gear housing (7) on the motor housing (6), onto which the gear is attached to transfer the motion of the armature (3) to the windscreen wipers, a cover (8) covering the gear housing (7) and an adaptor (9) on the brush holder plate (5) for the electric connection between the gear housing (7) and the motor housing (6).
The cover (8) comprises an electric plug (10) for the passage of the electricity which is required by the electric motor (1) and a transmitter (11) for the transfer of the electricity from the electric plug (10) to the adaptor (9).
The gear housing (7) comprises a connection module (12) which covers the motor housing (6), a recess (13) on one side of the connection module (12) which opens to the motor housing (6) and accommodates the adaptor (9), a sealing member for sealing between the adaptor (9) and the recess (13) and a shaft space (14) through which the shaft (4) passes.
The adaptor (9) comprises one or more inlet terminal (15) which fits into the transmitter (11) and which receives electrical current, and one or more outlet terminal (16) opening to the inside of the motor housing (6) which transfers the electrical current to the armature (3) and the brush holder plate (5).
The adaptor (9) is preferably made of plastic material for precisely sealing the recess (13). When the electric motor (1) is operated, electrical current coming from the electric plug (10) is transferred to the adaptor (9) over the transmitter (11). The current available through the inlet terminal (15) on the adaptor (9) is transferred to the motor housing (6) through the outlet terminal (16). The electrical current transferred into the motor housing (6) is directed to the brush holder plate (5) and the armature (3). The motion is transferred to the gear housing (7) by means of the shaft (4) spinning by the movement of the armature (3) and the windscreen wipers connected to the gear housing (7) are activated.
The electric connection between the gear housing (7) and the motor housing (6) is provided by isolating from the external effects. Therefore the safety of the electric motor (1) is ensured.
