It has been discovered that hydrophilic moisturizing and lubricating compositions for use on the bodyfacing surface of absorbent products such as an interlabial pad typically introduce a higher level of moisture onto the skin or mucosal area, and retain the moisture in that area, as compared to hydrophobic compositions. As such, in accordance with the present invention, it is preferred that the moisturizing and lubricating compositions of the present invention be hydrophilic in nature. One measurement of a composition's hydrophilicity is the composition's ability to dissolve in water.

- a new liner and backing material were then again wiped down the same testing site ten more times for a total of twenty wipes (one wiping cycle) . This procedure was repeated every ten minutes for a total of twelve wiping cycles. The entire procedure was repeated on the right side of the nose with the appropriate code material .
