Abstract

It is intended to disclose a method and a system for obtaining cells of a specific type from a biological material which comprise: introducing the biological material into a digestion chamber having a screen, through which cells or cell clusters of a specific type can pass but the biological material cannot pass, at the outlet; continuously feeding a first physiologically compatible medium (PCM) into the digestion chamber to digest the biological material; the digestion of the biological material being carry out while continuously withdrawing the first PCM from the digestion chamber but the thus withdrawn PCM never being fed into the digestion chamber again; the continuous feeding of the first PCM being carried out within a time sufficient for separating the cells of the specific type from the biological material, transferring the cells and thus allowing to pass through the screen to thereby start the passage of the cells of the specific type through the screen; continuously feeding a second PCM into the chamber; continuously recovering a cell suspension containing the cells of the specific type from the digestion chamber; and then separating the cells of the specific type from the cell suspension.
