Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé et un arrangement destinés à la séparation de particules légères (10) et de particules lourdes (3) dans un milieu liquide contenant des particules légères et des particules lourdes qui décantent et qui doivent être lavées, en particulier du sable, et en particulier à l'arrivée d'eaux usées dans des installations d'assainissement dans lesquelles on procède à l'élimination des particules lourdes à l'extrémité inférieure d'une cuve et des particules légères à un niveau situé au dessus de celui de la sortie des particules lourdes. Selon l'invention, on varie le niveau d'eau de procédé de lavage du sable (3) dans la cuve (13) de façon à réaliser une différence de pression hydraulique et que le matériau plus léger sédimenté (10), qui ne doit pas être lavé, puisse être éliminé par décantation pendant une période prédéterminée en provoquant la mise en rotation (20) du matériau plus léger (10) le forçant ainsi à se rassembler vers le centre à un niveau (14) supérieur au niveau supérieur (22) du sable. L'eau de lavage (23) et/ou un autre fluide de lavage du sable sont aussi fournis.
