NEW CANINE BEVERAGE
DESCRIPTION
The object of this invention is the obtention of a product that provides an adequate complement to canine food and at the same time serves as a thirst quencher by supplying a drinkable solution, the components of which are in such concentration that make it possible its ad-libitum ingestion in large quantities without danger or risk of intoxication.
Likewise, the new invention provides a solution to the serious global health problem posed by the "dengue" disease and its transmission vector, the "Aedes aegypty" mosquito. It also solves the problem raised by the reproduction of mosquitoes and black flies in the water of domestic animals drinking troughs as described in the following specification.
The product composition is based on the supplement of oligoelements, essential macroelements, vitamins and amino acids that are lacking or in low proportions in some of the foods usually given to animals.
A liquid formula has been devised which can be easily administered and has been conveniently flavored so that its convenient and time-saving for the owner and assures proper ingestion by the animal.
A biologic larvicide has been added to the formula which, as it will be later explained, is non-toxic either for humans or animals and prevents the reproduction of mosquitoes and black flies in the water of drinking troughs, which is essential in the fight against the "dengue" disease.
The solvent of the product is water. Drinkable water from the ordinary suppliers is used which assures the healthiness level. To the aforesaid solvent the product components are added in actual solution, for which purpose each component is solved in small quantities of water, said components having been correctly weighed on a precision scale, and incorporated into a main solution which is thereafter poured in stainless steel tanks provided with stirrers which provide for its adequate dilution.
Once the canine beverage has been obtained it is bottled in plastic containers of adequate capacity, with twist cap and safety seal.
Once the container is opened it can be closed back hermetically, thus facilitating its handling and storage at home.
Containers are adequately labeled so that they will easily stand out from other products in order for the buyer to be sure that it is the product he really wants.
All components used are of accepted chemical quality optimum chemical quality, even fit for human use which assures that the product is harmless, making it safe even in case of accidental ingestion by children or adults.
In response to widespread national health campaigns against the spread of the "dengue" disease the formula of this invention incorporates a biologic alternative for mosquito control.
In the campaigns it is repeatedly requested that the contents of drinking troughs be often replaced. This invention provides a novel solution to the problem. In the case of the present canine beverage it is not necessary to make said replacement, thus releasing the owner of animals from such responsibility.
In fact, the larvicide added to the beverage carries an active component, the "Bacillus Thuirgiensis", which destroys larvae within two to twelve hours after its ingestion, causing no harm to benign insects, water life, birds, vegetation, animals in general and human beings. The product is water soluble, it does not present oral nor dermic toxicity, nor is it toxic if inhaled. In fact, tests were conducted through pulmonar injection and no multiplication was detected in lung tissue. Identical result was obtained when injected in conjunctive tissue.
The formula of the new beverage is based on the need to supply elements that have both clinically and scientifically proved absent for different reasons or others that, when correctly supplied benefit the animal's health.
A daily average intake of 35 ml per kilogram of live weight has been established but said intake is very variable as it will depend from environmental temperature and humidity, the pet's activity as well as its phisiological condition.
This consumption was established in accordance with animal nutrition bibliography and charts of the American Association of Food Control.
Since the exact consumption rate can not be established, it is indicated for daily intake and different animal sizes.
The supplement has been formulated in low concentrations, thus guaranteeing a benefit to the animal when added to other elements contained in food without resulting toxic when frequently consumed. The product of this invention has no counter prescriptions.

Macroelements.
Sodium, chlorine and potassium have been incorporated as these elements are widely spread in the body in tissues as important for the animal as cardiac, muscular, bone and nervous tissues. They are also found in large quantities in gastric secretions and take part in multiple organic functions.
Calcium: It is not only found in bone tissue as its main component but as a main element in important organic reactions such as blood coagulation and muscle contraction.
Magnesium. It is widely spread in the organism and one of its best known functions is related to muscular contraction.
Vitamins.
Vitamin A. This vitamin is essential for good vision, especially at night, as well as for healthy bone growth and the reproduction and maintenance of epithelial tissue. At skin as well as mucous level, it holds a special role in cell proliferation and diferentiation; it also plays an important role in the production of microproteins.
This vitamin is also involved in the activity of osteoblasts and osteoclasts at bone tissue level; it is also related to cell division and cell membrane maintenance of cartilage through gluco protein synthesis.
Experiments conducted with lab animals demonstrated that it is essential to the reproductive system, since it plays a major role in male spermatogenesis as well as in the female's reproductive cycle and phetus development. Vitamin D3. It basically affects bone, intestine and kidney development. Small quantities of the active metabolite ( 1 ,25 dihydrocolecalcipherol ) are needed for the parathormone to act on the bone.
Vitamin E. It acts as a chain divisor biological antioxidant that neutralizes the free radicals and thus prevents the peroxidation of lipides contained in cell membrane. It acts jointly with selenium, which as a component of the metaloenzime glutation peroxidase, reduces the formation of peroxides.
Its deficiency in dogs has been associated with muscular and skeletal degeneration, reproductive malfunction, retinal degeneration and alteration of the immunologicresponse.
A deficiency of vitamin E/Selenium has been associated with dermathological disorder.
It has been postulated that its sub-clinic deficiency acts as a suppresant of the immune response, thus increasing the susceptibility to the DEMODEX acarus, which is the causing agent of one of the types of animal mange.
It has been proved that vitamin E has anti-inflammatory effects on dogs with dermic conditions. This vitamin was successfully supplemmented to animals affected with Discoide Eritematose Lupus, Dermathomiositis and Nigricans Acantosis.
Vitamin K Its most known function is the role it plays in blood coagulation. This is of particular importance in animals that for various reasons have a low bacterial count in their large intestine, as is the case with those animals subjected to extensive antibiotic treatments.
