Abstract

This air cleaner is designed to absorb polluted particles in air efficiently though consuming little power and water by enlarging the contact surface between air and water when inlet air is passing through the inside of this instrument. The process is as follows. Fan motor rotates a water pipe (3) which has screw on its inside connected to the motor axis (7) in series. As this water pipe rotates, it moves up water in the basin to the injection pipe (2) with small holes. This injection pipe sprays water evenly in all horizontal directions by using centrifugal force. Sprayed water (6) flows down evenly along the creased side wall of cylinder (4) which has many holes. Polluted inlet air is induced into the inside through these holes (5) and goes out through water (6) sprayed by the injection pipe. This process makes it possible for water to absorb polluted particles and dust efficiently.

Description

AIR CLEANER
Technical Field
This invention is an air cleaner which can efficiently get rid of dust and polluted air particles while making the maximum efficiency of the absorbing characteristic of water even with a small amount of water and energy. Background Art
When the water pipe(3) which is in series connected to the motor axis (7) rotates, the screw which is installed inside the water pipe(3) lifts up the water from the reservoir(lθ) at the lower part to the injection pipe (2) at the upper part.
At this time, the water can be sprayed in every horizontal direction through lots of small holes (11) of the injection pipe (2) by the centrifugal force and evenly flows down shaping a thin film along the pleated cylindrical wall (4) which is punched with many holes(5) .
Disclosμre of Invention
This apparatus was designed to maximize the contact surface between air and water to efficiently absorb pollutant while the air which has inflowed into the apparatus by its ventilation fan is passing through the inside of this apparatus .
To achieve this deisgned concept, the water pipe(3) which has built-in screw is connected to the fan motor axis (7) in series. As this pipe rotates by the fan motor, it enables the water to be lifted up from the reservoir (10) on its lower part to the injection pipe (2) on its upper part. And the water can be evenly sprayed in all horizontal directions passing through injection holes(ll) . At this time, because the amount of spraying water is less than that of the water which is lifted up by the water pipe(3) (its amount is equivalent to the volume of one pitch of screw per one rotation) , the contact rate between air and water can be maximum by increasing the number of water stream (6) , spraying through lots of small holes (11) of 0.7 — 0.8mm diameter in 5 — 7 layers on the side of the injection pipe (2) .
And then, the water streams (6) which are sprayed against the upper part of the cylindrical wall from the injection pipe (2) flow down evenly with a form of thin film by placing vertical pleats with narrow intervals on the inside of cylindrical wall (FIG. 3) .
At this time, by making lots of holes (5) on the part of trough, the inflowed air from outside can have enough contact surface with water when passing through these holes. In this way, this apparatus (FIG. 1) was designed to absorb polluted air particles and dust in water at its maximum by two process such as air influx passing through the holes (5) of the cylindrical wall which thin water is flowing and air efflux passing through water streams (6) made by the injection pipe. As to additional technical solutions, a protection pipe(14) is installed to prevent water level from lowering at the surrounding parts of the bottom of water pipe when it lifts up water while rotating. And an auxiliary reservoir is equipped to supplement a lack of water due to evaporation. And the fan blade is designed to generate a breeze not to sweep away water streams when they are sprayed from the injection pipe. In this design, supposing that the revolutions per minute (r. p.m.) or the angular velocity ω of the fan motor is constant, the initial velocity v of spraying water stream(6) which is horizontally sprayed from hole(ll) of the injection pipe is proportioned to the radius r of this pipe as represented by v = rω , and the horizontal moving distance of water stream which is sprayed at the same height is proportioned to the initial velocity v. Therefore, it is recommended to use a electric motor suitable for this designed operating power because the height and diameter of the water pipe and the injection pipe are decided according to the using purpose and capacity of the apparatus.
The ordinary filter type air cleaners are used in closed places, but they are not effective in open places. Moreover, this filter typed air cleaner apparently shows its deteriorated cleaning capacity as using time gose on and requires great expenses to exchange filter by periods. But this invention has a powerful capacity to lower the pollution level not only in closed places but also in public and commercial places which are required a large amount of fresh air. As to the water in use for this apparatus, it is only needed to change it once or twice per day by tab water according to its pollution status resulting from air cleaning. In consequence, it is so convenient to maintain the performance of the apparatus as well as its maintenance expense is little. And the simple operating structure (FIG. 1) in which a small amount of water is in circulation makes possible to maximize the cleaning capacity and minimize the size of apparatus. Brief Description of Drawings FIG. 1 : Schematic diagram of the air cleaner based on its designed concept FIG. 2 '• Cross-sectional view of the water pipe with built-in screw and the injection pipe
FIG. 3 : A part of cylindrical wall which is designed to make water flow down in the form of thin film FIG. 4 : Bird's eye view of the water streams sprayed from injection holes of 1 layer (8) air inlet, (9) motor supporter, (11) air outlet, (12) water pouring point, (13) water drain Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
An experiment was done based on the following specification which corresponded to small apparatus. electric motor •' 50-60W, 1800 r.p.m. water pipe : diameter 2.5cm, height 12cm, pitch of screw 1.5 — 2.0cm injection pipe '■ diameter 3cm, height 0.8cm, diameter of a hole in the side 0.07—0.08 cm total number of holes of the injection pipe :
25 holes per layer x 5 layers = 125 This experiment demonstrates that water streams (6) are sprayed while rotating 25 — 30 revolutions per second and evenly flow down along the pleated cylindrical wall on which many holes are punched.
