Abstract

Compositions and methods for controllably releasing a material or active ingredient from a polymer matrix. A typical controlled-release composition includes an active ingredient or ingredients; at least one polymer for capturing the active ingredient or in which the active ingredient is embedded; and a degradation controlling material for degrading or otherwise altering the polymer, whereby the active ingredient is controllably released from the polymer upon the addition of the degradation controlling material to the at least one polymer.
