  • the annular wall includes at least one thread (which may be a single continuous thread) shaped to mate with the closure thread (s) upon snap-on or screw-on application.
  • One end of the neck finish is typically open to the outside and has positioned thereon an annular flange sealed by the closure disk circumferential flange, while the other end of the neck finish terminates at the container body and has a flange that cooperates with the flange on the tamper evident band to align the threads for proper installation and to subsequently retain the tamper- evident band.
  • the cap includes threads which are designed to slide or ride over corresponding threads on the neck finish of a bottle to provide a cap for bottlers so that they do not have to change their neck finishing equipment in order to accommodate either a snap-on or screw-on cap.

  • Tamper-evident band 34 preferably contains a perforated connection 38 to annular wall 32 that is configured for drop-down screw-off removal, but can also be formed with a weakened line to permit tear removal using a pull tab 36 which may be upwardly or downwardly extending.
  • Connection 38 can include frangible elements breakably securing it to the annular wall 32 as is well known in the art.
  • Cap 30 preferably includes a circumferential flange 40 positioned on the annular wall adjacent connection 38 that is segmented (but which can be continuous) .
  • Flange 40 is preferably sized, shaped and configured to ride over the top surface of a cooperating bottleneck flange 21 during installation so as to permit alignment of the cap 30 for proper cap thread 43 and bottleneck thread 24 engagement prior to thread contact, and to then engage with the bottleneck flange 21 to assist in retaining the closure after cap installation is complete.
  • the bottom surface of the closure disk contains a circumferential flange 48 which preferably seals the container by contact with the top surface of the bottleneck 17 as shown in Fig.l, but which can also seal the inner surface as shown in Fig.3.
  • a cooperating flange 41 is located at or below the intersection of the closure disk 31 and depending skirt 32 but above the closure thread (s) 43 and acts to form a seal with the outer surface of the bottleneck 10.

Abstract

La présente invention concerne un bouchon fileté inviolable (30) adapté pour être appliqué à une finition de goulot de récipient (10) coopérant. La bande inviolable (34) contient une bride circonférentielle (40) dimensionnée, formée et configurée pour recouvrir la surface supérieure d'une bride de goulot de bouteille coopérante (21) pendant l'installation, ce qui facilite l'alignement du bouchon et assure sa mise en prise correcte avant le contact avec les filets. Ce système assure ensuite une mise en prise appropriée avec la bride du goulot pour maintenir le bouchon en place après son installation. La surface inférieure du disque du bouchon contient une bride circonférentielle (48) qui ferme hermétiquement le récipient en venant en contact avec la surface supérieure (17) du goulot, tandis qu'une bride coopérante (41) placée en dessous de l'intersection du disque de bouchon et de la bride mais au-dessus des filetage du bouchon (43) agit pour assurer une fermeture étanche avec la surface extérieure du goulot.
