Abstract

Der Erfindung liegt die Aufgabe zugrunde, ein einfaches und sicheres Verfahren zur Eliminierung des Einflusses der CO2-Konzentration auf die Messsignale nichtdispersiver Infrarotspektrometer zur Bestimmung von 13CO2/12CO2-Verhältnissen in Atemgasen bereitzustellen, welches gewährleistet, dass bei Kalibrierung und Messung weitgehend gleiche physikalische Bedingungen herrschen. Erfindungsgemäss werden die beiden Kammern der Messküvette des nichtdispersiven Infrarotspektrometers zunächst mit einem CO2-freien Gas gefüllt, der Nullpunkt eingestellt und dann eine Küvette bekannten CO2-Gehalts und 13CO2/12CO2-Verhältnisses in den Strahlengang gerückt. Das sich dann einstellende Messsignal für 12CO2 wird in der Phase der Messung reproduziert, indem das Messgas dem CO2-freien Gas in der einen der beiden Kammern der Messküvette in der erforderlichen Menge zudosiert wird. Das wichtigste Anwendungsgebiet des erfindungsgemässen Verfahrens ist die Anwendung von 13C-Atemtests in der medizinischen Forschung und Diagnostik.
