Description

Description PACKAGING FOR STOCKINGS Technical Field
The following invention regards a packaging for hosiery and in particular ladies' stockings and pantyhoses. Background Art
It is known that ladies stockings are usually packed in transparent plastic, cellophane type envelopes where the stockings are folded around a cardboard-stiffener and enclosed in an appropriately printed wrapper. The cellophane envelopes are generally shaped around the folded stockings and closed by means of a seal line.
It is also known that an externally printed outer cardboard packaging is used for stockings of higher quality. The gram weight of the cardboard employed is such, as to obtain a semi-rigid packet. The stockings folded around the cardboard stiffener are enclosed in a transparent plastic envelope and then inserted into the external wrapper. The outer wrapper is generally achieved from bodied cardboard, where a series of bend and cut lines have been performed and determine two substantially rectangular-shaped and equal-sized adjoining faces, which are foldable one upon the other in correspondence to their mutual point of convergence. Foldable ends extend from the transversal sides of one of these surfaces (generally the front face of the packaging) which join and are attached, with a suitable adhesive, to the rear face; while from the free side, intermediate to the previous and opposite to the joining side, a closure flap extends for insertion into an opening which is defined by an incision line performed on the mentioned rear face This type of packaging is very expensive, particularly due to the high price of the materials adopted and therefore weighs heavily on the final product cost, thus causing the necessity for such packaging to be used for products of high quality
In particular adopting an outer cardboard wrapping and a plastic envelope is in addition hardly ecological in proportion to the outstanding cost
Another criticism regarding the use of such wrappers for ladies' stockings, consists in the fact that they cannot normally be hung, and therefore cannot be exhibited in large-scale retail outlets on traditional display units. In fact, when the packet is hung in a vertical position, it easily opens at the bottom end, or it can be left open by the customer once the product has been viewed causing the contents to fall out Disclosure of Invention
The aim of the present invention is to resolve the above-mentioned drawbacks by devising a packet for ladies' stockings that permits a noticeable reduction in production costs, yet presenting an external packaging in cardboard-type material A further aim of the invention is to provide a packaging for ladies' stockings that is suitable for presentation in large-scale retail outlets The above-mentioned objectives can be achieved by this present packaging for ladies' stockings and the like It is characterized in that it consists in an outer wrapper, prepared at the outset, from bodied cardboard-type material in sheets, of a quadrilateral shape when outspread, with a series of bend and cut lines that define a substantially rectangular shaped base with the medians coinciding with the diagonals of the mentioned quadrilateral profile and substantially triangular shaped lateral flaps extending from the longitudinal and diagonal sides of the said base, that can be folded in correspondence to the same sides

Fig. 5 illustrates a chart view of a different realization form of the said bodied carton in sheets, Figs 6a, 6b and 6c schematically illustrate the consecutive wrapping phases of the stockings in an envelope packaging, created with a sheet of tissue paper,
Fig 7 illustrates a perspective view of an additional wrapping method of the stockings with a sheet of tissue paper Modes for Carrying out the Invention
With reference to such figures 1 refers to the packaging for ladies' stockings 2, and in particular pantyhoses
Packaging 1 consists in a sheet 3 of tissue paper used for wrapping the packed stockings 2 and an external envelope 4 of cardboard-type material in sheets The sheet 3 of tissue paper can remain loose or be securely attached by a suitable adhesive to the envelope 4
The envelope 4 is achieved at the outset from the above-said bodied 40 material in sheets, of a quadrilateral shape when outspread
Ideally, the bodied carton 40 is square shaped
The bodied carton 40 presents a series of bend and cut lines that define a substantially rectangular or square base 41 with the medians coinciding with the diagonals Dι, D2 in the above-said square profile Substantially triangular shaped lateral flaps 42, 43 extend from the longitudinal 44 and diagonal 45 sides of this base 41 , the flaps 42, 43 are re-foldable in correspondence to the same sides 44, 45 In other words, the longitudinal 44 and the diagonal 45 sides of the base 41 are parallel twofold to the diagonals DN D2 of the square profile of the bodied carton
The flaps 42, 43 can be bevelled at the base 46 in line with the bend lines defined by the sides 44, 45 of the body base 41 On closure of the envelope 4, the lateral flaps 42 extending from the longitudinal sides 44 of the bodied carton 40 base 41 marginally overlap the flaps 43 which extend from the diagonal sides 45, and are in correspondence to the relative overlapping lines appropriately bound one to the other via a removable self-adhesive label 5 (fig 3) Alternatively, it is possible to arrange the closure of the envelope by applying a suitable adhesive along the appropriately bevelled margin of one of the said flaps 42 It is especially possible to apply spots of glue on one or both of the bodied carton flaps 42 or to combine the spots of glue applied to one of the bodied carton flaps 42 with a self-adhesive label positioned in correspondence to the overlapping lines of flaps 42 and 43 In these cases, a useful semi-circular shaped incision line 47 is performed across the median line in definition of a grip for opening the envelope (fig 2) The incision line 47 bilaterally proceeds with a pre-incision line 47a, which serves to facilitate the pull-tab opening It is also possible to arrange for the envelope to be closed by a hooked lock via the insertion of a head or flap 42 tab in an appropriately performed incision line on the opposite flap
In correspondence to one of the transversal sides 45 of the base 41 , the bodied carton 40 also presents an opening 48, for example, of a circular shape, equipped with a film closure of transparent plastic material, applied from the inner side of the envelope and which serves to illustrate the packed product The opening 48 can naturally be performed in any part of the bodied carton In parallel to such an opening 48, the sheet 3 of tissue paper conveniently presents a sheared slot to enable visualization of the product.
The diagonally folded stockings 2, are wrapped in the sheet 3 of tissue paper and then closed in the envelope 4 by firstly folding the transversal flaps 43 and then the longitudinal ones 42 along the bend lines, as defined by the respective sides 45, 46 of the bodied carton base 41 In order to pack bulkier products, the bodied carton 40 can present relative score lines along the longitudinal 44 and the transversal sides 45 of the base 41 which are used to increase the depth of the envelope Alternatively, the stockings 2 to be packed can be folded around a cardboard-type stiffener sheet 6, substantially correspondent to the shape of the above-said bodied carton base 41 The stockings folded around the cardboard sheet 6 are consequently wrapped in the sheet 3 of tissue paper and enclosed in the envelope 4
In figures 4a, 4b, 4c and 4d a different method of folding the stockings 2 is illustrated and determined by partially interposing the sheet 3 of tissue paper According to this solution in fact, during the packing procedure, the sheet 3 of tissue paper presents a lateral end 31 which is refolded and interposed in sections between the stockings 2 that are folded one on the other, in order to stiffen the stockings themselves More precisely, the stockings 2 folded into two, overlap onto the central section 30 of the sheet 3 of tissue paper in order to leave the lateral ends 31 , 32 of the previous, projecting from the opposite sides of the stockings (fig 4a) Therefore, the first lateral end 31 is bent onto the stockings (fig 4b) and followed by completion of the stocking folding procedure (fig 4c), in this manner, the end 31 remains interposed within the folded sections of the stockings Bending the second lateral end 32 (fig 4d) finally completes the wrapping of the stockings in the sheet 3 of tissue paper It has been tested that stockings wrapped in a sheet of tissue paper, in this way, obtain stiffness equal to those adopting a cardboard sheet This present packaging for ladies' stockings achieves the objective for a considerable reduction in production costs, yet presenting an outer wrapper in cardboard-type material
This is obtained thanks to the particular form of the bodied cardboard used to produce the envelope In fact, its square shape permits an optimum use of this material in sheets, with a drastic reduction of wastage and consequently a decrease of raw material costs
Emphasis must be given to the fact that this result has been achieved in a very simple way, thanks to the overcoming of preconceived technical ideas due to which, packaging consisting in an outer cardboard-type wrapping is currently produced at the outset from bodied carton with two equal sized adjoining faces foldable one on the other in correspondence to their mutual point of convergence, and equipped with re-foldabie ends in parallel to the front face, which join and are attached with a suitable adhesive to the rear face Another characteristic of the packaging in object concerns the fact that it anticipates wrapping the stockings in a sheet of tissue paper, either loose or glued to the envelope, a method that until today was exclusive to packaging of particular quality In addition to being ecological, the sheet of tissue paper maintains the often very delicate stockings in an excellent way However, it is possible to anticipate that stockings shall be wrapped in cellophane envelopes as occurs in traditional packaging A further advantage offered by this present packaging consists in the fact that it is suitable to be displayed in large-scale retail outlets In fact, the bodied carton 40, in correspondence to one of the transversal sides 45 of the base 41 , can present an extension for the corresponding flap 43 equipped with a loop (not illustrated) for suspension on suitable support units Accomplishing such an extension section naturally requires an adequate variation to the basic form of the bodied carton When hung in a vertical position, the envelope 4 does not open at the bottom, but can on the contrary, be opened and closed by the consumer in order to view the product via the self-adhesive label 5 Another advantage of the proposed packaging regards the fact that it is possible to print on a level and directly on the envelope from the outside, the necessary commercial information, especially the article size, colour, reference code and the bar code These commercial details can be printed in any area of the envelope and therefore the use of standard labels adopted in traditional packaging is avoided
In fig 5 a different form of bodied carton 40 for achieving the cardboard envelope 4 is illustrated According to such a form, the bodied carton 40 presents relative, substantially rectangular, longitudinal 42 and transversal 43 flaps at the base sides 41 which extend from the corresponding longitudinal 44 and transversal 45 sides of the above-said base 41 In this case, realization of the envelope 4 is also obtained by successively bending the transversal 43 and the longitudinal 42 flaps, to enclose the stockings wrapped in the sheet of tissue paper
In figures 6a, 6b and 6c a further form of packing stockings 2 inside an envelope wrapping is illustrated and performed with a sheet 3 of tissue paper, with the characteristic of offering complete protection for the stockings with a minimum use of tissue paper Such an envelope wrapped in tissue paper is obtained by folding the sheet 3 in two parts according to a median fold line 35, which is oblique in relation to the sides of the same sheet 3 In the packaging procedure, the fold line 35 serves to create concordance for the lower margin of the stockings 2 that are wrapped on the cardboard sheet 6, when reversing the section 36 defined by the median line 35 It should be noticed that the cardboard sheet 6 on which the stockings 2 have been wrapped has a smaller extension width for the above-said median fold line 35 of the sheet 3 of tissue paper (fig 6a) Therefore, the ends 37 of the sheet 3 of tissue paper that laterally protrude from the stockings 2 wrapped in cardboard 6, are to be bent from opposite sides (fig 6b) In the envelope wrapping closure procedure, the sheet 3 of tissue paper presents a couple of symmetrical sheared slots 33 in correspondence to diagonally opposite corners in order to provide a counterbore for viewing the packed product The stockings 2 wrapped on the cardboard sheet 6 which is arranged in correspondence to the median fold line 35 present an upper edge substantially in line with the defined corners of such sheared slots The lateral ends 37 are bound by further fold lines 34 which run from one of the relative tips of the sheared slots 33 and perpendicular to the median fold line 35 In fig 7, a further wrapping method for stockings 2 in a sheet of tissue paper 3 is illustrated The sheet of tissue paper 3, drawn from a stock of pre-cut sheets or from a reel 9, is positioned on the transit trajectory of the stockings 2 folded on the cardboard sheet 6 In this case, the sheet 3 is folded astride the stockings 2 in correspondence to the median line 35, therefore wrapping them on two surfaces The length of the sheet 3 is such that, following the refolding procedure around the stockings 2, the latter overflows from the refolded ends of the sheet 3 of an amount 2a that permits to view the product through the opening 48 of the bodied carton 40 Materials adopted for the actual realization of the invention, as well as their shapes and sizes, can be various, depending on the requirements. Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing yhe intelligibility of the claims and accordingly, such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the scope of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs
