Abstract
The invention relates to a brake for inline skates using an additional wheel mounted at the rear. This additional wheel can be moved upwards and when placed under pressure, presses against a brake block (8). The wheel moves along grooves or slots (5) provided in the underframe, pullback springs (6) also being provided in said grooves or slots (5). It is also possible to arrange this brake block so that it too is moveable, so that when the additional wheel is placed under pressure said brake block also presses on the wheel second from the rear at the same time, or presses an additional brake block onto the wheel second from the rear via a connection or a lever. A rim braking action in the wheel interior is also a viable alternative to the braking action on the periphery of the wheel, that is the wheel tire.
Description
Bremse für Inline-S ates Brake for inline sates
The invention relates to a brake for inline skates according to the preamble of claim 1.
The problem of braking is still not solved satisfactorily with inline skates. The latter therefore often have no brake at all or only a brake pad made of a rubber-like material that can be pressed directly onto the floor. In this most commonly encountered braking system based on U.S. Patent No. 5,028,058, a brake pad is mounted just above the floor. This is pressed onto the floor by tilting the foot / shoe backwards / downwards. All you have to do is go into the knee with one leg and extend the other leg, which is equipped with the braking shoe, with a normal, i.e. angled, foot position. In US Pat. No. 5,257,795 it is also proposed to mount this brake pad provided for ground contact so that it can be pivoted forwards / upwards and to connect it to a further brake pad which presses on the rearmost supporting wheel during braking and thus achieves an additional braking effect.
In contrast, according to US Pat. No. 4,312,514, a system is also known in which an additional roller is provided at the rear, which can be pressed onto the floor in the same way. However, this role is equipped with a constant brake, which does not allow metered braking. There are also a number of patents in which it is proposed to generate a braking pressure on the rearmost supporting wheel by means of a pivotably arranged roller. For this purpose, reference is made to the prior art set out in US Pat. No. 5,183,275 and also to the patents cited in US Pat. No. 5,527,048. With the so-called ABT (Active Brake Technology), the pressure required for braking comes from the shoe cuff above the ankle, which is pushed backwards when a foot / shoe is pulled forward, thereby actuating a lever. There is also a system on the market where the rearmost load-bearing wheel is pivotally mounted and presses on brake pads when loaded. In all of these inventions, if a movably suspended wheel or a movably suspended roller is provided at all, this (s) is pivotably mounted, ie the wheel hub can be rotated via an arm about a pivot point attached outside the wheel periphery. If the wheel is to be pressed onto a brake pad, this system has the disadvantage that the contact angle between the brake pad and the wheel is dependent on the distance, that is to say, for example, changes with increasing wear of the wheel lining and the brake pad. In addition, such a swiveling wheel arrangement entails design problems in that the swivel arm also has to perform a supporting function for this wheel and in that it is difficult to attach a visually non-interfering return spring.
The object of the present invention is to create a brake for inline skates in the form of a special brake wheel which does not have the disadvantages of hitherto conventional brakes or brake wheels and which allows an optimal, metered braking effect.
The object is achieved with the aid of the inventive training features of claim 1. Advantageous developments of the invention are the subject of the dependent features.
It is proposed to provide an additional, essentially non-load-bearing wheel behind the normal, usually three to four wheels, which is displaceable towards the top and under selective loading by pressing down the shoe in the heel area while simultaneously lifting the toe area as a result of the shift that occurs as a result presses a brake pad or a brake pad, so that at least this wheel has a braking effect and that this wheel is pushed back into the starting position by means of a return spring. This enables metered braking without grinding a brake block on the ground. The other wheels are also not affected if the shoe is not tilted backwards in an intended manner. This makes it easily possible, for example, to additionally cover the heel area of the shoe with a sole suspension to provide comfort.
This additional wheel can be the same size as the other wheels, but it can also be smaller or even larger. It can be the same or a different type than the other wheels. If there is no braking, it can touch the ground and turn when driving, or it can be slightly lifted off and only come into contact with the ground when the shoe is tilted backwards. The displaceability can best be achieved by the axle or the hubs of the rearmost wheel being supported on both sides in parallel grooves or slots provided in the chassis, so that it is guided and the displacement takes place in a precisely defined direction. The return spring is preferably provided within the grooves or slots of the chassis.
In a somewhat more complicated embodiment, it is conceivable to also provide the brake pad or the brake pad on the rearmost wheel so that it also acts as a brake on the second rearmost wheel or, via a direct connection or a lever, a further brake pad or lever on the rear wheel . Brake pad presses against the second rearmost wheel.
In order to allow more precise braking and to reduce the risk of locking, the possibility is further proposed to provide the brake pad or the brake pads as a whole in a co-compressible manner by using a compressible material other than the part not directly touching the wheel in the contact area with the wheel, or by being damped or sprung hard in another way, so that the brake pressure is not transmitted directly, but with distance-dependent strength.
If braking is simply carried out on the periphery of the wheel or wheels by pressing the brake pad onto the wheel tire, it is advantageous that the brake pad is rounded in the contact area with the wheel and adapted to some extent, and that this rounding unites has a slightly larger radius than the wheel. This prevents the brake pad from digging into the tires, which are usually made of polyurethane. The brake pad or the brake pads can be made of metal, preferably aluminum. To take into consideration is that with Zune 'hmender mass of the brake pad whose heat capacity increases and decreases due to the frictional heat generated in the short term achievable, harmful for the Radbereifung temperature. Relatively large brake pads are therefore an advantage.
Hierzu kommen marktübliche Materialien in Frage. The brake pad or the brake pads can also consist of a rubber-like material. The advantage of such a, preferably synthetic, material is, inter alia, in that it can easily be cast into a predetermined shape. Braking can, however, also take place in the interior of the wheel or wheels, in that the latter have rims, preferably made of metal, and a circular cavity, and in that a brake pad presses on these rims. Standard materials are suitable for this. The brake pad can be pressed from the inside to the outside, i.e. towards the wheel periphery, or from the outside inwards, i.e. towards the wheel center. When braking the rims, however, it must be taken into account that due to the usually relatively small wheel diameter of 80 mm or less, only a small space is available.
The basic principle of the invention is subsequently explained using a schematic sketch:
At the rear end of the chassis 1, the wheel 2 to be additionally provided is guided with its axis 3 in two parallel slots 5 embedded in the chassis, an overlap 4, preferably in the form of screw heads, being used for lateral fixation and a spring 6 with terminal holders 7 ensures that the wheel is pushed back into the normal position when the load is released. When loaded, the wheel is shifted in a defined manner towards a brake pad 8, which is preferably adapted to the tire surface, but has a somewhat larger radius than this. The dashed circle 2 'indicates the position of the wheel periphery in the braking position.
