Abstract
The imaging and therapy intraluminal probe (1) includes a probe body (3), at least one imaging transducer (25) for emitting imaging waves and at least one therapy transducer (26) for emitting therapeutic waves, movably mounted in said probe, driving means (24) for said imaging transducer, and driving means (26) for said therapy transducer. The probe is characterized in that said therapy and imaging transducers are movably mounted therein so that said therapy transducer, during the emission of therapeutic waves, directly emits the therapeutic waves in a direction substantially identical to the direction in which said imaging transducer emits imaging waves. With this invention, therapeutic treatments, particularly prostate therapy, can be conducted with high efficiency and therapeutic safety. The mechanical construction of the probe is simple and gives a high level of precision during treatment.
Claims
