Definitions
- the present invention relates to a bracelet closure device comprising an elongated part having two ends, at least one of which is provided with a pivoting arm, which can be folded down on one of the faces of this part, this arm being articulated on this part to one of its ends and being connected to one of the ends of a bracelet at its opposite end, the other end of the bracelet being either connected to the corresponding end of the other arm, in the case where the device has two pivoting arms, either directly connected to the free end of said elongated part in the case where the device has only one pivoting arm, the device being arranged so as to allow a closed position to be achieved in which said arms (2, 3, 42) are folded over said elongated piece and the ends of the bracelet are brought together above this piece, and an open position in which the he said arms (2, 3, 42) are separated from this part.
- Closure devices of this kind are already known which are commonly used in connection with wrist watch straps or simple bracelets. They have the advantage of allowing a very simple and almost instantaneous opening and closing maneuver.
- Such devices are generally made of metallic materials, in particular stainless steel or steel coated with a protective layer against oxidation, having a decorative appearance, and they can be used both in association with a metallic bracelet and with a bracelet made of another material, for example leather.
- the object of the invention is precisely to eliminate this drawback.
- the closure device is characterized in that it comprises means allowing an elastic extension of the mutual spacing between the articulation axes of said arms pivoting on said part in said first case, and between the pivot axis of the pivoting arm and the end of the bracelet directly connected to this part, in said second case.
- the means allowing the elastic extension of the spacing between said articulation axes comprise a movable part, supporting the articulation axis of one of the arms, this movable part being mounted at one end of the central part and being movable, with a limited amplitude, in the longitudinal direction of this part, against a force exerted by elastic return means tending to return it to its initial position.
- said movable part comprises a housing, disposed between the two teeth of a fork constituting one of the end parts of the central part, this housing being guided laterally by rails extending on the inner side of each of these teeth.
- said elastic return means comprise at least one spring housed inside this housing and resting, on the one hand, on a transverse spar which connects said teeth and which is overlapped by the housing and other part, on the inside of the case on the side of the transverse edge of the latter facing towards the middle of the central part.
- the arm articulated on said movable part has a claw arranged so as to resiliently lock this arm, in the folded position on the central part, by pressing this claw against the transverse edge of the housing facing towards the middle of the central part.
- the other arm is directly fixed on the central part and has a claw arranged so as to resiliently lock this arm, in the folded position on the central part, by collaboration with a rotating pin placed transversely, opposite an opening formed in the bottom of a longitudinal groove of the central part, this groove being arranged so as to receive said arm when it is folded against this central part.
- Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the device, according to a first embodiment, in the partially open position, mounted on a bracelet;
- Fig. 2 is a view in longitudinal section of the device according to the same embodiment as that illustrated in FIG. 1, this device being shown in the partially open position, corresponding approximately to that of FIG. 1;
- Fig. 3A is a view in longitudinal section of the device according to the embodiment of Figures 1 and 2, shown along the same section plane as that of FIG. 2, but in the closed position, in the absence of longitudinal tensile force exerted on the bracelet;
- Fig. 3B is a view in longitudinal section, corresponding to FIG. 3A, but showing the configuration of the device when a longitudinal tensile force is exerted on the bracelet;
- Fig. 4 is a perspective view of a second embodiment of the device, mounted on a bracelet, in the open position;
- Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the device according to the same embodiment as that of FIG. 4 in the closed position;
- Fig. 6A is a view in longitudinal section of the device, according to the plane VI-VI indicated in FIG. 5, shown in a configuration corresponding to the absence of longitudinal tensile force exerted on the bracelet;
- Fig. 6B is a view in longitudinal section of the device, corresponding to FIG. 6A, but showing the configuration taken by the device when a longitudinal tensile force is exerted on the bracelet.
- the device according to the first embodiment comprises a central part 1, having the shape of an elongated plate slightly curved to adapt to the shape of the wrist.
- the concave underside 1a of the piece 1, intended to be applied against the wrist is essentially smooth and devoid of any roughness and, as will emerge from the following description, it has only a few openings whose edges are advantageously rounded .
- Two pivoting arms 2 and 3 are respectively fixed, by means of articulation pins 9 and 13, mutually parallel, at the ends 1 c and 1 d of the part 1, so that they can be folded against at will the upper face 1 b of the part 1 while being housed in a longitudinal groove 1 e formed in the central part of this upper face 1 b, while being flush with the surface of the latter, either separated from the part 1, passing into the partial open position shown in FIG. 1, and coming to be placed in the extension of the part 1, in the extreme open position (not shown).
- the end 1c of the part 1 carrying the arm 2 forms a fork with two teeth and the ends of the articulation axis 9 of the arm 2 on the part 1 are housed in the anterior parts of the teeth of this fork, while the central part of the axis 9 passes through a thickened end part 2a of the arm 2.
- the face of the arm 2 which is intended to be turned towards the bottom of the groove 1e, in the closed position of the device, is provided with a claw 6 arranged so as to collaborate with a turning pin 7, placed transversely opposite 'an opening 8 formed in the bottom of the groove 1 e, by elastically locking the arm 2 in this position.
- the use of the rotary pin 7 instead of the edge of a simple opening made in the part 1 makes it possible to considerably reduce the wear of the claw 6 and of the pin 7 during repeated operations of closing and opening the device. .
- the arm 3 is fixed on the corresponding end 1d of the part 1, not directly, but by means of a moving part 12.
- the end 1d of the part 1 forms a fork with two teeth 10, which are longer than those of the end 1c and which are shaped so as to present, on their inner edge, a guide rail 10a for the movable part 12 which is housed between the teeth 10.
- the axis of articulation 13 of the arm 3 on the moving part 12 passes through an appendage 12b formed at the front end 12a of the part 12. This axis 13 also passes through a forked end portion 3a of the arm 3 surrounding the appendage 12b.
- the end 2b of the arm 2 is fixed to the strand 4 of the bracelet by means of a hinge pin 15 which passes through a swollen and rounded end 2b of the arm 2, as well as two stirrups 16 (including only one is visible in the drawing) of an operating part 17, integral with the end portion 18 of the strand 4 of the bracelet.
- the operating part 17 comprises a plate 19 overhanging, extending above the arm 2 and whose function will be explained in the following description.
- the end 3b of the arm 3 is attached to the strand 5 of the bracelet by means of a hinge pin 15 'passing through a 3d sleeve fixed on the arm 3, as is the end portion 18' of the strand 5 of the bracelet.
- the two strands 4 and 5 of the bracelet then cover the entire closure device which is entirely masked by the bracelet.
- the amplitude of the elastic displacement thus produced is relatively small (for example, of the order of 3 to 5 mm), it is sufficient to considerably improve the comfort of use of the bracelet.
- the total length of the link, constituted by the two strands 4 and 5 of the bracelet and the closure device, is increased and the bracelet can easily be removed from the wrist or , on the contrary, put it on the wrist.
- the length of the strands 4 and 5 of the bracelet can be adjusted in a manner known per se according to the size of the user's wrist, ensuring good initial comfort when the closure device is in the configuration shown in FIG. 3A.
- the device according to the embodiment illustrated in Figures 4, 5, 6A and 6B is similar to the device according to the first embodiment, but it only has a single pivoting arm 42 fixed by means of an axis of articulation 49 at one end 41c of a part 41 consisting of an elongated, curved plate, advantageously made of a metallic material, such as stainless steel or a precious metal, such as gold or platinum.
- the pivoting arm 42 is also curved, so as to match the shape of the part 41 when it is folded over it, and it is provided with a claw 46 making it possible to lock it elastically in the closed position by pressing against it the edge 47 of an opening 48, formed in the part 41 and extending to the end 41 d of the latter opposite to the end 41 c, forming a fork with two teeth 410.
- a strand 4 of a bracelet (shown in broken lines) is removably fixed by means of a pivoting pin buckle 417, on the end of the arm 42 opposite that which is articulated with the part. 41.
- the end of the other strand 5 of the bracelet is fixed to an appendage 412b which extends the front end 412a of a moving part 412, similar to part 12 of the first embodiment of the device.
- This moving part 412 is slidably mounted between the teeth 410 of the part 41.
- the moving part 412 is moved elastically towards the right, in the configuration shown in FIG. 6B, so that the ends 4 and 5 of the bracelet slightly deviate from each other, and one can observe a small space (for example of the order of 3 to 5 mm) between the appendix 412b and the anterior edge 417a of the loop 417.
- the two pivoting arms could be fixed to the central part by means of a movable part, such as part 12, allowing an elastic extension of the distance between their articulation axes.
- the arm 42 could be articulated on the part 41 by means of a movable part, such as the part 412, the end of the opposite strand of the bracelet then being able to be fixed. on the part 41 by means of a movable part, such as the part 412, is directly fixed on the corresponding end of the part 41 by means of a simple bar.
