Description

Sistema para la protección de equipajes.  Baggage protection system.
The present invention, as its title indicates, refers to a system for the protection of luggage, which is based on the thermal effect on the thermo-shrinking polyethylene material 1 by restraining the retraction of this around the luggage in order to provide an external protection before scratches, stains and dirt, and any other deterioration that is produced by possible improper manipulations.
As is well known, the luggage of travelers or any other package or package of relatively large size that has to be moved from one place to another by public transport, are removed from the disposal of their owners, being directed to compartments or rooms intended to the storage of them. At airports, when checking in and boarding, labels and stickers and other signs are placed on suitcases that are later difficult to remove. Likewise, the luggage crosses a considerable road on automatic transporters to be later stored in the plane. This type of conveyor sometimes causes scratches and even breaks in the suitcases due to the collisions caused in them or between them and the walls of the conveyor lines. THE buses have compartments in which passenger luggage is introduced. These compartments offer a limited space, so in the case of numerous luggage, they will have to be placed on top of each other with the possible possibilities of deterioration, scratch or breakage they would produce by the blows and shocks caused between the tapes.
Until now, there is no known system to alleviate the above problems, so the system for the protection of luggage object of the present invention can be considered as a novelty in this aspect. This system offers the protection of the luggage by means of a plastic wrap and of transparent type and susceptible to shrinkage under thermal effects, thus covering all the luggage, at the same time allowing the placement of stickers, labels and All kinds of signs of rigor.
This wrap protects the luggage against scratches and other damages that can be caused by shocks and blows to the luggage, and once arrived at the destination the wrap is broken leaving the luggage free of signs, stickers and damages available to the traveler.
The system for the protection of luggage, here recommended, consists, therefore, in the use of bags of thermo-shrinkable polyethylene material, available in the current market, which serve to introduce luggage in them. Said material when placed under special thermal effects and for a defined period of time undergoes retraction in such a way that when it shrinks it covers the luggage, providing a complete and closed covering.
To provide the thermal effect, an oven designed especially for this purpose has been devised. Said oven consists of a configuration cabin Prismatic-rectangular whose roof, bottom and side walls constitute a double layer structure of metallic sheets carrying a thermal insulating material (for example fiberglass) between both layers. The thickness of the thermal insulating material is greater than at the bottom. The need for this construction arises from the fact that hot air in any space always tends to rise, resulting in a greater probability of temperature losses in the upper parts of the oven. The front face of the oven does not have metal sheets to provide luggage access. This front face has a curtain of thermal insulating material to prevent hot air from escaping and thus prevent temperature loss. The rear face of the oven can be closed with metal sheets in the same way as the side walls, or be opened with a curtain to provide a second access. In the latter case, the front face would serve as the entrance and the rear as the luggage exit for cases where a faster operation is desired.
The internal temperature of the furnace necessary for the retraction of polyethylene is produced by the use of a battery of electrical resistors commanded from an electrical control panel in turn connected with a thermostat that serves to set and maintain the appropriate temperature, which it will have to be established according to the thickness of the plastic material, and the residence time, of the product inside the oven, varying in the practical cases the first between 200 and 260 sσ and the second between 15 and 45 seconds.
These resistances, once put into operation, heat the interior air of the oven thus exerting the thermal effect on the plastic material. So that the heat shrinkage effect is homogeneous in all parts of the plastic material that covers the luggage, a fan is used that would be placed inside the oven, attached to any wall thereof. The operation of the fan provides the movement of hot air inside the oven resulting in a homogeneous temperature inside the oven.
To enter the luggage, this system has a transport mechanism that can be carried out by either of the following two options:
Transportador fijo en el desplazamiento del equipaje: Fixed conveyor in the movement of luggage:
In this case, the conveyor is constituted by a motionless structure which has a horizontal movement mechanism either by means of a conveyor belt which can be made with steel mesh, or with siliconized fabric or by means of metal rods or tubes arranged in parallel in such a way. which form a continuous grid-like line that in the same way that the conveyor belt can move the luggage horizontally in or out of the oven.
The second option consists of a mobile conveyor that can move into the oven and vice versa, introducing or removing (in the case of the oven with a single access) with its movements the luggage that it carries.
In both options, the conveyors have a proximity detector installed on the edge of the conveyor line to detect the placement of luggage (wrapped in plastic bags) on top of the conveyor.
Once the placement has been detected, luggage travel is initiated by means of the relevant electronic signals that are emitted from the electronic control and control panel.
The luggage is thus introduced into the oven whose temperature is preset. After the time required for heat shrinkage, the electronic control panel starts the conveyor again, this time in the opposite direction, to remove the luggage already covered by the heat shrinkable material from the oven. In the case of having an entrance and an exit, said transporter would advance in a single direction (from the entrance to the exit).
To better understand the object of the present invention, a preferred practical embodiment of the following is presented below. same with the help of the attached drawings in which: Figure 1 represents a perspective view of the machine for luggage protection.
Figure 2 is a view of the interior of the oven sectioned by a vertical plane.
Figure 3 represents a perspective view of an embodiment of the conveyor by means of a continuous belt.
Figure 4 represents a perspective view of an embodiment of the conveyor by a continuous line formed by metal tubes. Figure 5 represents a perspective view of a baggage protection machine made with a mobile conveyor. For reasons of simplification and avoiding repetition, we proceed to describe an example of practical implementation of the system based on a furnace with a single entry and exit access with their respective conveyor options, it is always evident that this description does not exclude protection that it is desired to obtain in the event that the oven comprises two accesses, one front for the entry of the luggage and the other one for the exit of the same; case in which the transport mechanism comprises the same structures described below, always satisfying the special requirements of their own cases.
The luggage protection system consists of an oven (1) (see figures 1 and 2), inside of which there are electric resistance batteries (2) intended to heat the air inside the oven (1). The fan (3), also installed inside the oven (1) is dedicated to produce, with its operation, an air movement, in order to provide a homogeneous temperature inside the oven (i), necessary for retraction of the bag of heat shrinkable polyethylene material (4), wrapped around luggage (5).
The roof, the bottom and the side walls of the furnace (1), constitute a double layer structure of metal sheets (£) carrying between them a thermal insulating material (7) (for example fiberglass). The thickness of the insulating material (7), and therefore the distance between each pair of facing walls (6) is greater in the ceiling (a) of the oven than in the side walls (b), and in these are larger than in the bottom (c) (see figure 2).
The front face (S) of the oven (1) serves as access for the entry and exit of luggage. Said face (δ) is covered by a curtain of thermal insulating material and is intended to prevent the release of hot air and thus avoid the loss of temperature inside the oven (1). The temperature inside the oven (1) is controlled by a thermostat (9) in connection with an electronic control and control panel (10). In this way the temperature inside the oven is maintained at the preset value.
The electronic control and control panel is responsible for governing all automatic system operations. As mentioned above, the mechanism for transporting luggage in and out of the oven can be carried out in several manual and automatic ways. In this section of practical realization two preferential options will be presented.
Option 1a: In this case it is a conveyor (11) fixed in position (see figure 3), which is used to move the luggage by moving a conveyor belt (for example metal mesh), arranged horizontally and actuated by means of the rotating movement of two rollers (13) which in turn are driven by a gearmotor (14). In this option, instead of the mentioned continuous belt, a continuous line can be used (see figure 4) based on a structure composed of tubes (15) of material resistant to the heat, arranged in parallel and joined perpendicularly each at both ends with two metal chains (16). each of said chains forms a continuous band around two sprockets or sprockets (17). Each pair of facing sprockets, each belonging to a different continuous chain, revolves around an axis (18) that joins them and is dedicated to transmitting the rotating movement of the geared motor (14) to the sprockets (17) and therefore to the conveyor mechanism
Option 2§: In this option (see figure 5), it is a mobile conveyor (19), on which the luggage (5) wrapped in the bag of heat shrinkable material (4) is placed. The luggage remains without movement relative to the conveyor (19), however the horizontal displacement of the latter arranged in or out of the cabin (20), results in the introduction of the luggage (4) in the oven (1) or its extraction from him. This conveyor is composed of a hollow structure with a prismatic-rectangular configuration whose upper horizontal vertices (21) are shaped like zippers with their serrated faces facing down. Said zippers are geared with two sprockets or sprockets (22).
These pinions (22) are connected to each other by means of a central axis (23) in such a way that the rotational movement of the latter forces the pinions (22) to simultaneously perform a rotation in the same direction as the common axis (23). The rotation of the latter is obtained by the rotating movement transmitted by an electric motor gearbox (not shown in Figure 5). This conveyor presents on its upper face, that is, where the luggage is placed, a structure by way of grid constructed using a series of metal rods or tubes (24) or any heat-resistant material, arranged in parallel and in a horizontal position with the ends of each fixed jointly on the zippers (21).
All the conveyor options described herein have their respective proximity detectors (25) capable of detecting the placement or not of the luggage on the conveyor. Said detectors are electrically connected to the electronic control and control panel (10). once the luggage is placed on the conveyor, the proximity detector (25) sends the detection signal to the control and control panel (10), and this in turn drives the electric motor, resulting in the movement of luggage (4 ) into the oven.
It should be noted that in the case of the second option of the conveyor, it remains, in rest conditions (stand by), inside the oven, being necessary to remove it by pressing a button located on the control and control panel (10 ).
