Abstract

Un outil abrasif à la fois composite et monolithique, destiné à enlever de la matière, comprend une matrice poreuse frittée de céramique ou d'une matière métallique et une quantité d'une matière d'imprégnation qui remplit pratiquement complètement les pores de la matrice poreuse frittée préformée, au moins sur toute une zone efficace de l'outil, zone qui doit venir en contact avec une pièce qui doit être usinée au moyen de l'outil. Les étapes de la fabrication de l'outil sont les suivantes: coulage en barbotine d'une préforme, congélation et séchage par congélation de ladite préforme, frittage léger de la préforme sèche pour la transformer en une préforme de matrice poreuse, élévation de la température de la préforme à un niveau de température supérieur à celui auquel la matière d'imprégnation est apte à l'écoulement, et, enfin, remplissage des pores avec la matière d'imprégnation.
