Description
Slewing and tilting device
The present invention concerns a rotating and tilting device to be fitted between a working machine and a tool, which is provided with a fastening member for attaching the device detachably to the boom of the working machine and with a fastening member for attaching the device detachably to the tool as well as with a tilting joint fitted between the fastening members so as to tilt the tool towards the sides in relation to the working machine. The device is intended to be fitted between the boom and the tool on working machines, e.g. between the boom and the bucket of an excavator. From the FI Patent 67,113 a member for tilting the bucket of an excavator is known wherein there is a tilting shaft between the boom-fastening part and the bucket- fastening part. Between the fastening parts there is a tilting cylinder by whose means the bucket can be tilted around the tilting shaft.
From the FI Patent Application No. 843454 it is known to provide a tiltable bucket of an excavator with two cylinders of rotation to provide rotation between the bucket and the boom. The mechanism of tilting and rotation is built in the bucket itself. The same mechanism cannot be used for several interchangeable tools.
In the US Patent 3,977,547 a construction is described by means of which means for the regulation of the tilting between two plate-shaped parts is provided operating by means of hydraulic cylinders. The means are fitted between the machine body and the initial end of the boom.
The object of the present invention is to provide a device which is suitable for use when working under difficult circumstances in congested space and when the ground is inclined. The device in accordance with the invention is characterized in that one of the fastening members can be rotated in relation to the other fastening member in a plane parallel to the axis of the tilting
joint. By means of the device in accordance with the invention the tool can be placed easily in the correct position even in difficult conditions of terrain without having to move the working machine itself. By means of the device, the interchangeable tools of the working machine can be provided both with rotation and with tilting. The device is compact and does not increase the overall height of the bucket fastening device, and conse¬ quently it does not lower the excavating power either. The invention will be described in more detail in the following with reference to the attached drawings, wherein
Figure 1 is a side view of a device in accordance with the invention partly in section,
Figure 2 is a side view of a similar device, and Figure 3 shows the device of Fig. 2 viewed from above. The top face of the upper plate 1 is provided with brackets 2 for fixing the device in a conventional way to the outer end of the boom of the working machine by means of fastening pins transverse to the boom. The lower face of the lower plate 3 is provided with snap joints 4, by means of which the tool proper, e.g. a bucket, is coupled to the device.
The lower plate 3 consists of two plates 5 and 6 placed one above the other and connected to each other permanently. Between said plates, an intermediate plate 7 is fitted rotatably. A support arm 8 fixed to the top face of the intermediate plate 7 projects upwards through an opening provided in the plate 5. The support arm 8 is attached, by means of the tilting joint 9, to a support 10 fixed to the lower face of the upper plate 1. The tilting joint is perpendicular to the direction of the fastening pins to be fitted through the brackets 2, and by means of the tilting joint the device permits lateral tilting of the tool relative the working machine. Between the plates 1 and 5, two single-action, multi- section tilting cylinders 11 are fitted at two sides of the tilting joint 9. By means of these cylinders, the tilting force and the inclination of the tool are adjusted.
Between the support arm 8 and the plate 5, two dual- action cylinders 12 parallel to the plate 5 are fitted. By means of these cylinders, the rotation of the plates 5 and 6 in relation to the plate 7 is accomplished. In this way the tool proper revolves in relation to the boom of the working machine. The cylinders of rotation 12 are placed on the circumference of the device further out than the tilting cylinders 11. In this way the tilting cylinders can be kept as close to the tilting joint as possible, and they can be made short. As a result of this, the overall height of the device remains low.
Fig. 2 illustrates the positions of the plate 3 tilted into two positions in dashed-dotted lines. Fig. 3 illus¬ trates the positions rotated into two directions in dashed- dotted lines.
