Definitions

  • the invention relates to a method for extinguishing fires in rooms of buildings or the like with the aid of liquid particles.
  • sprinkler systems are used, via which the pressurized extinguishing water, which is located in a central storage container, is supplied to the rooms in buildings or on ships that catch fire. It has been shown that the water emerging from the sprinkler nozzles generally brings about the desired extinguishing success. Frequently, however, not insignificant damage to floors, walls or objects occurs in the rooms affected by the fire, which are not caused by the action of flame or heat but only by the extinguishing water.
  • the invention has for its object to further develop the fire extinguishing method of the type mentioned, while eliminating the disadvantages listed, so that fires occurring in rooms of buildings or the like can be extinguished with a minimum of damage by the extinguishing process.
  • the extinguishing liquid can be removed within a very short time, i.e. convert into a nebulous state in just a few seconds and convey it to the source of the fire in a relatively simple manner. Due to the extinguishing liquid mist descending on the latter, this stove is shielded very effectively, and it has been shown that the fire suffocates in a relatively short time. Extinguishing liquid dampening of the walls and ceilings as well as other objects is avoided.
  • the method according to the invention is characterized by the use of a blower for transferring the mist of extinguishing liquid to the source of the fire.

  • the sonotrode 2 can be supplied with electrical energy via an accumulator battery. As shown in the drawing, the sonotrode can expediently be connected via a cable 9 to a power supply unit 10 to a supply network which is not illustrated in more detail.
  • the level valve 8 ensures that a predetermined extinguishing liquid level of approximately 40 mm is maintained above the oscillating plate of the sonotrode 2, which is not shown in any more detail. If a fire breaks out, the sonotrode 2 is connected to the mains, i.e. supplied with energy, the extinguishing liquid 3 located above the sonotrode 2 is subjected to ultrasound such that its surface is torn open and the container space is filled with extinguishing liquid mist, in particular in the region of the channel 4. An extremely dense fog can be generated with ultrasound at a frequency of over 1 MHz. The extinguishing liquid mist is carried along by the air flow generated by the fan 5, which enters the channel 4 in the direction of the arrows through the container 1, and is conducted in the vicinity of the source of the fire.
  • the container can also be designed as part of a closed system which is preferably filled with inert gas and is under excess pressure.
  • the sonotrode ensures a fog-saturated state, so that when a fire breaks out, oversaturated steam can be supplied to the source of the fire by opening a switched-on valve or slide.
  • the sonotrode is designed so that its oscillating plate is able to withstand the pressure.
