Description

"A carton for loose products, in particular sweets"
Poligrafico Buitoni S.p.A.
The present invention relates to a carton for containing loose products, in particular sweets, such as sugar-coated almonds, pastilles, chocolates, candies and the like, said carton having a delivery mouth for said products arranged to be exposed by a rotation of the front part of the carton itself.
The abovesaid carton is obtained from a flat single-piece punched member, generally made of cardboard, preferably by means of a mechanical assembly system that entails folding and glueing operations of the single elements constituting said punched member.
The carton according to the present invention will be better illustrated below from the description of an example of embodiment thereof with reference to the attached drawings, wherein: figure 1 is a plan view of the starting single- piece, flat punched member; figure 2 is an elevational iew of the concerned carton in a closed and sealed condition; and figure 3 is a perspective view of the carton of figure 2 in the open condition after the seal has been broken. With reference to figure 1, wherein the flat single-piece punched member for obtaining the carton according to the present invention is shown, taking into accunt that the several elements that constitute said punched member to be hereinafter described are to be considered as being connected with each other by means of crease lines unless otherwise specified, in 1 there is shown the top wall panel having a rectangular shape having at the center of the free long side a grasp tab 2 and, starting from the end of said side, a reduced resistance line 3 apt to constitute a terminal portion that may be torn out, and having a trapezoidal shape indicated n 4. Each short side of the panel 1 is connected to a long side of a respective rectangular panel 5 of the lateral external wall, while its long side opposed to the free one previously mentioned is connected to a first long side of a rectangular panel 6 of the end wall, the short sides of which are connected to respective edges 7 supporting the lateral wall.
The second long side of the panel 6 is connected to a first long side of a rectangular panel 8 of the lower wall having each short side connected to a first long side of a respective rectangular panel 9 of the lateral internal wall, the second long side of which is connected to a trapezoidal edge 10 in the body of which there are obtained, by means of cuts, a rectangular wing 11 and a rectangular hole 12, constituting a corresponding number of elements of a device adapted to limitate the foreseen rotation of the front part of the carton of the invention for its opening as it will be explained hereinafter. The second" long side of the panel 8 is connected to a first long side of a rectangular panel 13 of the front wall, the short sides of which are connected to respective edges 14, provided with a tooth 15 in correspondence with the base of the external side constituting a first element of a second device for limiting said rotation of the front part of the carton, the edges 14 having a plurality of functions in that they serve to support respective lateral walls, to guide the rotation of the fr.ont part of the carton for its opening or closure, to constitute a corresponding number of side panels for said front part of the carton rotated in the open position, and, finally, to limit said rotation by means of the respective teeth 15 as it will be better explained hereinafter. The second Long side of the panel 13 is connected to a short side of a substantially rectangular panel 16 arranged for constituting the upper wall of said front part of the carton rotated in the open position with the delivery mouth, constituted by the hexagonal opening 17 in the panel 16 itself, being exposed as it will be explained in detail in the description of
5 the operation of the concerned carton.
On each long side of the panel 16, there are obtained, by means of suitable cuts, a stop ridge 18 and a substantially rectangular recess 19 respectively constituting a second and a third element of said second
10 device for limiting the rotation of said front part of the carton during the opening operation in the manner which will be illustrated in detail below in the description of the operation of the carton according to the i nvention.
15 During the assembly, starting from the flat single- piece punched member such as the one previously disclosed and as shown in figure 1, in which the faces of the single elements correspond to the internal ones, there are folded upwards through 90°, "the edges 7 with respect
20 to the panel 6 and this latter with respect to the- panel 8, thus forming the bottom wall; the edges 14 with respect to the panel 13 and t is latter with respect to the panel 8, thus forming the front wall; the panels 9 with respect to the panel 8 thus forming the internal
25 lateral walls with a subsequent folding towards the interior through 90° of the edges 10 in which the wings 11 will result in an erect position; there are then folded through 90° the panel 16 with respect to the panel 13 up to bring it into abutment over the edges
•*-iu 10 and the panel 1 with respect to the panel 6 up to bring it into abutment over the panel 16 thus forming the upper wall and then the pane Is 5 with respect to the panel 1 up to bring them into contact with the respecti e panels 9 thus forming the lateral external
35 walls.
Contemporaneously with the abovesaid folding operations, the following glueing operations are carried out: the panels 9 over the respectrive edges 7; the trapezoidal terminal part 4 of the panel 1 over the corresponding portion of the panel 16; the panels 5 over the corresponding panels 9 obtaining thus the carton of the present invention completely closed and sealed that is shown in elevation in figure 2 from the top wall panel 1.
Clearly, before proceeding with the closing and sealing operations on the concerned carton, its- filling with the loose sweets will be provided for.
In the operation, in order to allow the delivery of the product contained in the carton of the invention, starting with the closed and sealed condition, by holding with one hand the body of the carton, with the other hand, by means of the grasp tab 2, a pulling action will be made in order to separate the terminal part 4 of the panel 1 from the remaining part of this latter along the reduced resistance line 3 so as to allow the rotation of the front part of the carton along the connecting crease line of the panel 13 to the panel 8 with a subsequent dragging towards the exterior of the edges 14 by rotation as well as of the panel 16 through a sliding action up to the total exposition of the opening 17 through which the delivery of the product may be effected.
As it can be seen in figure 3, wherein the carton in question has been shown in the position with seal broken and opened so that the product therein contained may come out exclusively through the delivery opening 17, exposed by said rotation of the front part of the carton according to the invention, this latter will include two lateral side boards constituted by respective edges 14, a front board constituted by the panel 13 and an upper wall constituted by the portion of the panel 16 around the opening 17.
In order to close the carton again from the open condition of figure 3, it is sufficient to exert a pressure action over the external face of the panel 13 in order to rotate said front part in a sense opposite to the one for opening it, up to bring it back in the initial position of figure 2, obviously without a seal. Now the system wi ll be shown for limiting said rotation of said front part of the carton of the invention up to the complete exposition of the delivery opening 17 and not beyond, in order to avoid a possible disassembly of the carton itself, said system comprising for a greater confidence two locking systems.
A first one of these includes the wings 11 erected on the panels 10 and the respective steps 18 on the panel 16> indeed, during the sliding of this latter over the edges 10 when dragged by said rotation of the front part of the carton for its opening, the steps 18, when they come into contact with the respective wings 11, these wi ll prevent the further advancing of the panel 16 and consequently the prosecution of said rotation of the front 'part o the carton.
The second of said locking devices comprises the teeth 15 and the holes 12 on the edges 14 as well as the recesses 19 on the panel 16 and it operates in the following way: the edges 14 carrying the teeth 15 during said rotation of the front part of the carton rotate upwards up to when said teeth 15 engage the respective holes 12, said engagement being realized only when the recesses 1 enduring the sliding of the panel 16, wi ll arrive in register with said holes 12, in order to prevent in a clear way the further rotation of the front part of the carton.
It wi ll be clear that the above described locking devices are arranged in such a manner as to operate only following the complete exposition of the delivery aperture 17.
The present invention is not limited to its exemplary embodiment described abaove, but, on the contrary, it includes any var ant of embodiment.
