The use of light stabilizers is intended to prevent or alleviate the harmful effects of light on human skin. Der UV-Teil des Sonnenlichts wird in drei Bereiche unterteilt:The UV part of the sunlight is divided into three areas:
- UV-Strahlung mit den Wellenlängen von λ - 315-400 nm ("UV-A") verursacht die Bräunung der Haut durch Direkt pigmentierung.- UV radiation with the wavelengths of λ - 315-400 nm ("UV-A") causes tanning of the skin through direct pigmentation.
- UV-Strahlung mit den Wellenlängen von λ = 280-315 nm ("UV-B") verursacht die Erythembildung, die bei hoher Bestrahlung zur ernsthaften Schädigung (Sonnenbrand) führen kann.- UV radiation with the wavelengths of λ = 280-315 nm ("UV-B") causes erythema formation, which can lead to serious damage (sunburn) when exposed to high levels of radiation.
The UV radiation with wavelengths of λ = 240-280 nm ("UV-C") is largely absorbed in the atmosphere and therefore has no significant skin effect.
Wendung kommen [Übersicht in: W. Bruhn, Deutsche Apothekerzeitung, 117, 1362 (1977)].According to the current state of knowledge, it was desirable to use light protection filter substances which have a strong absorption in the UV-B range. (Prevent sunburn) and let the UV-A radiation work in undiminished (favoring the tanning of the skin). Accordingly, the industry has provided a large number of suitable substances that are also used worldwide today Turn come [Overview in: W. Bruhn, Deutsche Apothekerzeitung, 117, 1362 (1977)].
Allardi, Vortrag beim 11. Internat. IFSCC-Congress 'Cosmetics-Research and Technology', Venedig, Sept. 1980. Abstracts, S. 263). Dermatological examinations from recent years have shown that skin keratin and elastin are also damaged by UV-A radiation. This reduces the skin's elasticity and water-binding capacity, which embrittles faster and tends to wrinkle. Extreme damage to the deoxyribonucleic acid and ribonucleic acid and the corresponding “repair systems” are even possible, which can lead to the formation of melanoma. The incidence of skin cancer in areas exposed to strong sunlight is striking (H.D. Allardi, lecture at the 11th International IFSCC Congress 'Cosmetics Research and Technology', Venice, Sept. 1980. Abstracts, p. 263). It therefore appears necessary to provide light protection filters that can cover the UV-A range.
In addition to the ability to absorb UV-A, further technical requirements must be placed on such a light protection filter substance for cosmetic formulations: high extinction, photostability, oxidation stability, emulsion stability, toxicological harmlessness, low intrinsic odor and low intrinsic color.
Offenleg. 25 44 180] ( λ max=340 nm) und 3 ( λ max=355 um). Beide Substanzen sindSubstances that largely meet these requirements are dibenzoylmethane derivatives such as 2 [Dt. Disclosed 25 44 180] (λ max = 340 nm) and 3 (λ max = 355 µm). Both substances are
In der Dt. Offenleg. In the German Disclosed 2,816,819 (filing date 18.04.1978), the p-methoxycinnamic ester of h as UV-A filters are claimed, which are represented by the condensation of the relatively expensive Anisalde ¬ hyds with ethyl cyanoacetate.
Das Diagramm 1 für den Ethylester (R1=Ethyl, R2=The present invention relates to the 2- (1-oxoalkyl) -5-phenyl-2, -4-pentadienoic esters of the general form 1. These compounds have an absorption maximum at λ = 330 nm with a high extinction (for example when R = Et : λ = 130). The radiation stability was checked by long-term exposure to synthetic daylight (Ultravitalux lamp). Diagram 1 for the ethyl ester (R 1 = ethyl, R 2 =

The other esters of general formula 1 also show a UV maximum at 330 nm due to the same chromophoric group, however due to the different molecular weights, each with a different specific absorbance. The radiation stability corresponds to that of the ethyl ester.
In Formel 1 ist R1 vorzugsweise ein geradkettiger oder verzweigter Alkylrest mit 1 bis 8 Kohlenstoffatomen oder ein Alkoxyalkylrest mit insgesamt 4 Kohlenstoffatomen, also C1 bis C8-Alkyl oder (CmH2 m-O)χ-CnH2n+1 mit m + n = 4 und R2 ist vorzugsweise der MethylrestIn formula 1, R 1 is preferably a straight-chain or branched alkyl radical having 1 to 8 carbon atoms or an alkoxyalkyl radical having a total of 4 carbon atoms, that is to say C 1 to C 8 -alkyl or (C m H 2 m -O) χ -C n H 2n + 1 with m + n = 4 and R 2 is preferably the methyl radical
The substances of general formula 1 are liquid and can be easily incorporated into a wide variety of cosmetic formulations and are stable to emulsions. Self-odor and self-discoloration are low.
Since the compound of the general formula 1 does not change or discolor significantly under the influence of prolonged exposure to sunlight, it protects the material to which it was incorporated, but also the layers underneath, for a long time.
Solche Materialien sind beispielsweise:Due to the properties described, the compounds of formula 1 can be used alone or in combination with other UV absorbers in sunscreen cosmetics of various preparation forms (oil, cream, milk, spray), using customary carrier materials, diluents, fillers and auxiliaries. Examples of such materials are:
- natürliche und synthetische Glyceride, natürliche und synthetische Wachse, Paraffin, Walrat, Fettsäuren, Fettalkohole (Stearyl-, Oleyl-, Palmityl-, Cetyl-alkohol usw.), Eucerin (5 % Wollfettalkohole und 95 % aliphatische Kohlenwasserstoffe), Wollfett, Sorbitanfettsäureester, Polyethylen sorbitanfettsäureester, Fettalkoholpolyglykolether und -ester, Carboxyvinyl-Polymere, Gelatine, Tragant, Pektine, Agar-Agar, Methyl-, Ethyl- oder Carboxymethylcellulose oder Polyacrylsäure (als Trägerstoff)- Natural and synthetic glycerides, natural and synthetic waxes, paraffin, whale, fatty acids, fatty alcohols (stearyl, oleyl, palmityl, cetyl alcohol etc.), Eucerin (5% wool fatty alcohols and 95% aliphatic hydrocarbons), wool fat, sorbitan fatty acid esters , Polyethylene sorbitan fatty acid esters, fatty alcohol polyglycol ethers and esters, carboxyvinyl polymers, gelatin, tragacanth, pectins, agar agar, methyl, ethyl or carboxymethyl cellulose or polyacrylic acid (as carrier)
- niedere Alkohole wie Ethanol, Isopropanol sowie Glykole,
Polyalkohole (Ethylenglykol, Glycerin) oder Wasser (als Lösungsmittel), - ionogene oder nichtionogene, kationen- oder anionenaktive, bzw. ampholytische Emulgatoren, Konservierungsmittel, Farbstoffe und Parfümkompositionen (als Hilfsstoffe).- lower alcohols such as ethanol, isopropanol and glycols, Polyalcohols (ethylene glycol, glycerin) or water (as a solvent), - ionogenic or non-ionic, cation- or anion-active, or ampholytic emulsifiers, preservatives, dyes and perfume compositions (as auxiliaries).
The compounds of formula 1 are also suitable as light stabilizers for natural fibers such as cotton or wool (delaying or preventing the fading of colors), or for films, foils, threads, fibers and other molded articles made of synthetic plastics and as a component of filters and protective layers for photographic purposes or packaging material.
The content of compounds of formula 1 in cosmetic or technical applications is not critical per se and largely depends on the intended use. In general, the concentration in the end product can be 0.1 to 10% (but also more).
Die Verbindungen der Formel 1 sind einfach darzustellen. So wurde der 2-Methyl-5-phenyl-2,4-pentadiensäure-ethylester (Cinnamyliden-acetessigester) bereits von Knoevenagel [Ber. Dt. Chem.
The compounds of formula 1 are easy to prepare. The 2-methyl-5-phenyl-2,4-pentadienoic acid ethyl ester (cinnamylidene-acetoacetic ester) has already been developed by Knoevenagel [Ber. German Chem. Ges. 31, 734 (1898)] by reacting cinnamon hyd (5) and acetoacetic ester (6, R 1 = Et, R 2 = Me) using catalytic amounts of piperidine. In an analogous manner, all esters of general formula 1 can be prepared from cinnamaldehyde (5) and a 1-oxo-alkyl-carboxylic acid ester (6), strong organic bases such as piperidine or pyrrolidine being used with preference, even in the presence of weak organic acids were. As can be seen from the gas chromatograms and 1 H-NMR spectra, the compounds 1 are each present as a mixture of isomers (approx. 2: 3).
Die Darstellung von Cinnamyliden-acetessigsäure-ethylester aus Zimtaldehyd (5) und Diketen beschreiben T. Kato, T. Chiba und M. Sato [Chem. Pharm. Bull., 26, 3877 (1978)]. The preparation of ethyl cinnamylidene-acetoacetate from cinnamaldehyde (5) and diketene is described by T. Kato, T. Chiba and M. Sato [Chem. Pharm. Bull., 26, 3877 (1978)]. The higher homologues, namely those with an alkyl radical R 1 with more than one carbon atom, and also the oxa-alkyl-substituted derivatives are new compounds.
B. durch ClaisenEsterkondensation [Organikum , VEB Deutscher Verlag der Wissenschaften, Berlin 1967 , S. 454] oder durch Umsetzen der jeweiligen Methylketone mit Diethylcarbonat [A. Brandström , ActaThe acetoacetic acid esters of higher alcohols required for the preparation of the compounds 1 with R 2 = methyl described above can be obtained in a known manner, e.g. B. by Claisenester condensation [Organikum, VEB German Publishing House of Sciences, Berlin 1967, p. 454] or by reacting the respective methyl ketones with diethyl carbonate [A. Brandström, Acta
Chem. Scand . 4, 1315 (l950) ] . Bowman, J. Chem. Soc. 1950, 322].Chem. Scand. 4, 1315 (1950)]. The oxoalkyl acetic acid esters to be used for the analogous preparation of compounds 1 with R 2 = C 2 -C 18 alkyl can be obtained by alkylating malonic acid diethyl ester with the respective acid chloride [organikum, VEB Deutscher Verlag der Wissenschaften, Berlin 1967, p. 46l] followed by acidic saponification and decarboxylation [RE Bowman, J. Chem. Soc. 1950, 322].
J. Chem., 47, 4076 (1969)] have described the spectral data of the cinnamylidene-acetoacetic acid ethyl ester without recognizing the suitability of the substance as a light protection filter substance. US Pat. No. 2,381,886 describes the use of 2-acetyl-5-phenyl-2,4-pentadienoic acid as part of a self-drying lacquer. There was nothing about using it as a light protection filter substance known. It was surprising that the polyunsaturated compounds of the general formula 1 have the observed photostability and resistance to oxidation. Therefore, it is also novel that the compounds of formula 1 are suitable as light protection filter substance. The UV-A light protection filter substances 2 and 3 already on the market have absorption maxima at λ - 340 or 355 nm and must therefore be used in combination with a UV-B filter substance. The position and intensity of the absorption maximum of the compounds 1 written here (half-width: 60 nm; absorption range: λ = 300-360 nm) enable the filter action against UV-A and UV-B light, so that the compounds 1 as broadband light protection filters ( ie without the addition of a UV-B filter substance) can be used.
The compounds of formula 1 can be incorporated in concentrations of 0.1 to 10 5%, preferably 0.5 to 5%, in different cosmetic preparations such as oils, creams, lotions or in preparations for technical applications.
Because of the different substituents R 1 and R 2 , the compounds of formula 1, which because of the same chromophoric group each have the same absorption behavior in the UV range, have different physical properties (for example viscosity). The compounds 1 can therefore advantageously be used in various cosmetic or technical preparation forms.
