Beit known that I, CHARLES J. SADLER, of the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, .reinvented and produced n new and original Design for a Surgical Stocking, of which the following,r is a full, clear, and exact de scripton, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming` a part hereof.

In the drawings, Figure l is a side elevation of my newly-invented design. Fig. 2 is a section on the line a nY of Fig. l. Fig. 3 is have the usual contour, and there is a V- shaped opening 4 in the heelseetion.

5 indicates parallel horizontal hars, which project almost wholly upon the exterior of the stocking, leavi ng the interior smooth and even and gi ring;r to the exterior a corrugated appearance, (sec Fig. 2,) and the exteriors of said horizontal bars are covered hy stitches 6, the exterior of which presents The appearance ol'in verted heart-shaped bodies arranged in horizontal rows and having between the said rows in verted-V-shnpcd bodies T, formed by the interior threads of the stocking being interwoven with the exterior threads which form the stitches G.

I claim- The design for a surgical stocking, suhstantially as herein shown and described.
