DESIGN FOR A COVER FOR PUFF-BOXES OR SIMILAR ARTICLES.

Beit known that I, THEODORE W. FOSTER,a citizen of the United States, residing at Providence, in the county of Providence and State of Rhode Island, haveinvented and produced a new and original Design for the Cover of a Puff-Box or Similar Article, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming part thereof.

Figure 1 is a top view of a cover for puffboXes and similar articles, showing my design. Fig. 2 is a transverse section on the line X X of Fig. 1.

As shown in the drawings, the leading or material feature of my design consists of the central convex panel surrounded by a circular ornamental border in which are a series of bold foliated scrolls having a rose ornament extending over part of the central panel on one side and the foliation of aradially-disposed scroll extending over part of the raised central panel on the opposite side. From the stem of the rose ornament bold foliated scrolls having their ends curved inward form a circular border, the outer lines of which follow the circular margin of the cover, while the inwardly-curved scrolls and foliations approach and partly extend over portions of the central panel. The rose ornament extends over part of the central panel, and a radiallydisposed foliated scroll supporting a fruitand-flower ornament has the foliation of the scroll extending over part of the central panel opposite the rose ornament.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-

The design for the cover of a puff-box or similar article as herein shown and described.
