DESIGN FOR A MANHOLE-COVER.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,675, dated September 21, 1897.
Application filed August 4,1897. Serial No. 647,133. Term of patent 14 years.
To all whom it may concern.-
lie it known that 1, TnoMAs 1. Gnnuinn, a citizen of the United States, residing at the city of Philadel iihia, in the county of I.hila delphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented and produced a new and original l)esign forManhole-(lovers, of. which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part thereof.
Figure l is a top or plan view of a manhole-cover, showing my design; and Fig. 2 is a central longitudinal section, these two views being deemed necessary to fully illustrate my design.
The leading, feature of my design consists of a concave manhole-cover having one or more series of inclined spur-like ornaments grouped within the outline of the cover and surrounded by an annular series of horizontally-arranged triangular spurs projecting inward from the periphery of the eoyer toward the center.
Referring to the drawings, u is the floor, and I: the periphery, of a concave manholecover. Arranged within the periphery and projecting angnlarly upward from the floor of the cover a re one or more series of spurs o1 prongs (I, each spur being angularly inclined toward the center of. the cover. .lrojectinginwa rd from the periphery toward the center of the cover is an annular series of horizontally arranged spurs or prongs which, viewed in plan or in longitudinal section, are substantially triangular. The cover, when Yiewed in plan, presents the appearance of a crown, whereof the annular spurs or prongs c are the pendants, and. within which are grouped one or more series of Sill)- stantially star-like ornaments, formed by the inclined prongs or spurs 1?.
Having thus described my design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by letters Patent, is-
A design for manhole-covers, sultrsiantially as shown and described.
