UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
HENRY O. SCHMIDT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO SIMONS, BROTHER & (30., OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR A CANE OR UMBRELLA HANDLE.
SPEGIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 19,944, dated June 24, 1899.
Application filed April 16, 1890. Serial No. 348,116. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, HENRY O. SCHMIDT, a citizen of the United States, residing in New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced anew and original Design for Cane or Umbrella Handles, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming part hereof.
Referring to said drawing, A represents the body of the handle, B the top or head, and C the base thereof. The body part is convex, and at the same time decreasing in diameter from its middle part downward, and formed with a series of depressed faces D, arranged slightly on a spiral, as shown. These faces D have ornamentation upon one side in the form of semi-leaves, as indicated at E.
The top B of the handle is plain and slightly rounded. .The base 0 is formed of the ornamented body part F, which unites with the lower portion of the body part A, and then swells downward and terminates in an ornamented ring or band G. The depressions D are slightly V-shaped, and the faces at of the depressed portions may be of less surface than the other faces.
The handle is made of any suitable material.
Having now described my new design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The design for umbrella or cane handles, substantially as herein described and shown.
In testimony of which invention I have hereunto set my hand.
