To aZZ whom it` may concern:
Be it known that I, LOUIS J. XVITHMAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ilainville, county of Norfolk, and State of Massa4 chusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Stock for Jewelry, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming partlthereof.
My design relates to stock such as is employed in manufacturing articles ol' jewelry; and it consists of a piece of stock which represents a series of vertical and horizontal bars simulating woven splint basket-work, one series of which represents rope.
The drawing shows a face view of my design for jewelry-stock in the form of a brooch.
A brooch constructed in accordance with this illustration of my design will have, as shown, horizontal members a,\vhieh are made to represent rope,and plain vertical members b, the members a and b representing woven splints,such as commonly employed in basket-` work, and provided with a surrounding border1 A.
Before my design it has been customary to simulate braided, retienlated, woven,and other ware for use in jewelry,and articles Ofjewel ry have been made in the shape of a basket. My design does not extend thns far nor eomprehcnd snch structures, but consists solely in jewelry-stock having the appearance of basket ware or work, as shown.
XVhat I claim is" The design forjewelrystock comprehendiing the representation of basket work or ware of horizontal and vertical interwoven Strandsor splints, one series of which resembles rope, substantially as shown and described.
