WILLIAM A. SPARKS AND NICHOLAS RAPPLEYEA, OF ROCHESTER, NEW
YORK, ASSIGNORS TO THE STEIN MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF
SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR A BURlAL-CASKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,287, dated September 5, 1882.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, WILLIAM A. SPARKS and NICHOLAS RAPPLEYEA, both of Rochester, Monroe county, New York, have invented and produced a. new and original Design for Burial-Gaskets; and we do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the same, reference being bad tothcaccompanyingphotographicillustration, which shows a perspective view of the casket.
This design relates to burinl-casketsin which the corners are recessed and provided with ormoments, as hereinafter described.
In the illustration, a shows one of the recesses, of which there are four, one in each corner. The recess is curved or concave in cross-section.
b b are bevels, one at the bottom and the other at the top of the recess, being highest at the back and presenting an inclined surface to the ends of the recess.
a is an ornament standing in the recess,that shown being a column or pillar.
d d are the top and bottom edges or moldings of the casket, which are rounded at the corners and project out beyond the recess, covering the ends of the same and inolosing them, except on the front side, being of full width and contour, as in ordinary caskets of the kind.
Having described our invention, we claim- 1. The design for a burial-casket, consisting of the recess a, with an ornament in the recess, as herein shown and described.
2. The design for a burial-casket, consisting of the recess a, with bevels b b at the top and bottom of the recess.
3. The design for a burial-casket, consisting of the recess a and the top and bottom rounded edges or moldings, d d, projecting over the recess, as herein shown and described.
4. The design for a burial-casket, consisting of the recessa, with an ornament in the recess, the berelsb b at bottom and top of the recess, and the bottom and top edges or moldings, d d, projecting beyond the ends of the recess, as shown and described.
