DESIGN.
J. ETZENSPERGER.
ORNAMBNTAL CHAIN.
Patented July 11, 1882.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN ETZENSPERGER, OF NORTH ATTLEBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR AN ORNAMENTAL CHAIN.
To all whom it may concern: k
Be it known that I. JOH EirzENsPEnGEn, a citizen of the United States", residing at North Attleborough, in the county of Bristol and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Ornamental Ohains, of which the followingisaspecifieation, reference being had tothe accompanying drawings, forming a. part thereof.
Figure 1 is a plan view of asection of chain embodying my invention. Fig. 2is an edge view. l
The chain is composed of. diamond or lozenge shaped links secured closely together so that they overlap and present an undulating checkered appearance, the surface being composed of alternate elevations and depressions. Each link presenting two surfaces to the light on each side of the chain, and these surfaces being at an angle to each other, one surface of each link is always in shadow, which produces the checkered efi'ect alluded to. The chain, when completed, may be of any desired length and breadth. I prefer to finish the end of the chain by reducing the number of links and gradually narrowing the chain to one link.
This design is also well adapted for flexible bracelets. The links may of course be made of any suitable precious or base metal.
Having thus described my invention, what. I claim is The design for a chain or bracelet, consisting oflozenge-shaped links placed close together and alternating so as to produce an angular checkered surface.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name
