To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, SARA E. WILTSE, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of West Roxbury, in the county of Suffolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and Improved Dust-Moccasin, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

My invention relates to moccasins, my more particular purpose being to produce a moccasin suitable for children, and adapted- Figure 1 is a perspective showing my moccasin in use upon a childs foot; Fig. 2 is a perspective of the moccasin as it appears when off the foot, but otherwise ready for use; and Fig. 3 is a plan view showing the blank from which the moccasin is made.

In describing the moccasin, I will for convenience first describe the blank shown in Fig. 3. This is made of cloth, preferably waterproof, and comprises a central portion 4 having heel ortions 5 integral with it. Each heel portion 5 is separated from the central portion 4 by a notch 6, the heel portions 5 beingsimilarly separated by a notch 7 Toe members 8, 9 of the shape shown in Fig. 3 are also integral with the central portion 4. There are notches 10 between the central portion 4 and the toe members 8, and other notches 11 between these last-mentioned toe members and the toe member 9'.

After the blank is cut, as shown in Eig. 3, and as just described, the various notches are closed by drawing the adjacent edges together and sewing them so as to form various seams, such as 12, 13, 14, shown in-Fig. 2. Two members 15, 16 forming parts of a clasp, are secured upon the toe members 8.;

These two members may be snapped together so as to hold one of the toe members 8 closely against the opposite toe member of the same kind. In bringing one of thewzlasp members against the other the adjacent members 8, 8 are brought face to face, so that the clasp is effectively sealed, as shown at 17 in Fig. 1.

At 18 is a shoe upon which the moccasin may be fitted.

The operation of my device is as follows: Normally the moccasin when unfolded and ready to be worn appears as indicated in Fig. 2. It is next placed upon a childs foot, and at first leaves the front or toe member of the moccasin loose and extending directly upward and also extending at an angle from the toe of the shoe. The clasp members 15, 16 are now brought together and pressed toward each other, so that they snap and cling together. In doing this the toe portion of the moccasin is contracted and caused to fit neatly upon the toe portion of.

- Having thus described my invention, I

claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent 1. A moccasin made of a single blank of thin material and having a toe portion nor-- mally loose relatively to the shoe upon which the moccasin is to be worn and extending upward at an angle to the toe of the shoe, the said toe portion being adapted to be folded so as to fit the toe of the shoe, and cooperating fastening members, secured upon the face of the toe portion of the moccasin near the top thereof and at opposite sides, the said fastenin members, when the toe portion is folde being adapted to be brought into engagement with each other to hold the toe portion in folded position.

2. A moccasin made of thin material and provided with a toe portion normally very loose relatively to the shoe upon which the moccasin is to be worn, said toe portion normally extending at an angle away from said toe portion of said shoe when said moccasin is in position thereupon but adapted to be folded so as to fit neatly thetoe of said shoe, and a clasp made in parts, said parts being spaced widely apart and located oppo- 5 sit'ely to each other upon said toe portion in order to hold said toe portion when folded.
