CUSHIONEHEEL.
Specification ofLetters Patent. P t t d A 23; 1910 Application filed February 26, 1908. erial No. 417,834; A
To all whom it mag/ concern: I Be it. known that I, IsAIE TAILLEFER, a sub- 'ject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Sault Ste. Marie, in the county of Algoma, Province of Ontario, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improve ments in Cushion-Heels; and I. do hereby declare that'the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to, make and; use the same.
The-present invention relates 'to cushion heels for boots, shoes and the like. It has for its object to provide a simple, cheap, and springy or resilient heel cushion that ma be a lied to-an shoe this object 3 PE y a being attainedy the construction and combination hereinafter particularly set forth and claimed.
In order to clearly disclose the construction, operation and application of the'de-.
vice, reference @should be had to t e accompanyin drawings forming part 0 v the presf i v dent that a soft easy cushlon is provided ent app ic'ation. I
In the drawings like reference characters v designate like parts throughout the several views. g
In the drawin s:-Figure 1 is a side elevation of the bee attached; Fig. 2 is a central lon 'tudinal section through the heel as attache showing a rubber cushion; Fig. 3
is a cross section, substantially atright an-' gles to Fig. 2, showing a sprin cushion; and, Fig. 4 is a top plan view of t e two tu-. bular sections detached from the shoe, in
operative position, but with the cushion 're- 1 moved.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 rep resents a tubular shell having inwardly tapering sides and ,back; and a substantially vertical front edge. This shell is provided with an inwardly projecting tapered flange 2 which extends substantially around its sides and back and is adapted to fit snugly between the boot or shoe upper and its heel seat, or between adjacent upper lifts ofthe heel. The lower inner rim of this shell is the member thereto, extending shoulder; a cup provided with an provided with a shoulder 3 of substantially the same extent as the fiange This sho In applying the device the cup'5 is passed downwardly through the top of'the shell 1 until the flange 4-rests upon the shoulder 3, the cushion 6 or 6 is then placed in the a bottom of the cup, the shell I placed sothat the forward portions of the flange 2 surround the' heel seat of the shoe and lie be- 6 of rubber or springs 6 is intween such heel seat and the upper, and the shell-is'then forced forward to the position.
shown in Figs. 1 and 2, its forward edge being secured to the heel seat by. screws passed through ears 7 extending forward from the .front edge. s
From the above disclosures it will be evi-' Having thus fully while at thesame time a hard, durable wear mg surface may be presented to the road.
described my invention,
what- I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
A cushion heel comprising a tubular merriber adapted to be secured to the heel seat of ashoe, and provided with a circumferential flange adapted to engage between the heel seat and the upper of a shoe for securing and having an inwardly outwardly extendingflange adapted to engage the inwardly extending shoulder on."
the tubular memberto limit the downward movement of the cup and a cushion seated in said cup and adapted to engage both the heel-seat and the bottom of the cup to there:
