To all whom 'it may concern:

Be it known that l, 'CHARLEs F. ACKER- MAN, citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Faucet- Syringes, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to an improvementA in faucet syringes comprising a medicating device and other parts, substantially as shown and described and particularly pointed out in the claim.

As thus shown F denotes a faucet, H a syringe hose attached thereto, C a valve coupling in the hose and. D a medicating chamber in the hose and carrying the nozzle or other attachment N on its outer end.

Essentially the invention resides first in the hose as a whole, and, secondly, in the said combined sponge and medicating chamber, which isv regarded as both novel in itself and in its connection with the other parts shown. As a device simply and 'alone the said chamber comprises a cylindrical body 2 having an externally threaded nipple 3 centrally at one end upon which the nozzle N, or other interchangeable instrument,

At its other or opposite end said bo y or cylinder has a cap l threaded inside in this instance and adapted to screw onto the neck 5 of said body, and provided with an internally threaded hole 6` adapted to receive a threaded nipple 7L on the nose H. Now, as an important feature of construction of body 2, it is to be observed that in addition to the neck 5 at one end it has an annular shoulder or enlarge ment 7 inside at said end and what may be regarded as the inner base of said neck and which aords an offset and s'top to confine the sponge S, or' its equivalent, in said body or chamber. This leaves the inside of nec 5 and a portion ofsaid cap unoccupied an wherein room is purposely provided for the medicating tablet or wafer 8, such tablet or wafer being introduced by removing cap or cover l and being itself of whatever character or contents a given treatment may require. The sponge serves as a medium for holding the tablet in its place as well as a -strainer throu h which the medicated water is carried. Re atively, therefore, the respective ends of body 2 of said chamber are difjferently constructed, chamber 9 for tablet 8 necessarily being of a size to accommodate the tablet and provide owA of water about the same. Of course the sponge will measurablymodify the water pressure to the user regardless of other parts, but valve 10 in coupling C is intended for 'this purpose. y

Obviously it would not be safe to the user of the syringe to permit the -full volume and pressure of a normal city supply to be taken into the person'without restraint, and as this style of syringe hose is engaged directly with a faucet which almost invariably is removed beyond the reach of the user, he requires means to control the flow of the water more immediately in hand. Hence I have incorporated valve l0 with the hose and in such nearness to the using end thereof that the same can be easily reached and manipulated by the hand of theuser to regulate the volume and force of the flow. This also serves to modify the absorption of the medicated wafer or tablet and ador'ds a syringe with water connections complete in itself and which entirely dispenses with the water l bag heretofore depended upon for a head an supply of water. In some cases it is desirable to use a liquid medicament or solution, in which case the sponge S may be saturated therewith, so that the sponge becomes a vehicle or medium for distribution and filtration in this case also.

What lf claim is:

As a new article of manufacture, a convertible attachment forsyringe hose adapted to receive a medicamentand consisting of a -hollow cylindrical body providing a chamber for the medicament and having an externally threaded nipple 3 at one end and a neck 5 at the other end externally threaded,
