ATTOR N EY JENNIE C. MATTHEWS, 01? DALLAS, TEXAS.
CHILDS PLATE OR DISH.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Feb. 15, 1910.
Application filed February 23, 1909. Serial No. 479,422.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JENNIE C. MATTHEWS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Dallas, in the county of Dallas and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Childrens Plates or Dishes, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to certain new and usegul improvements in a childs plate or dis The object of the invention is to provide a childs plate, bowl or dish of simple and inexpensive construction, which may be secured to the shelf of a childs chair in such a way that it will not be thrown on the floor and broken, and cannot be overturned.
A'further object of my invention is to provide a simple and inexpensive device for securing the plate or dish to the shelf of a childs chair, in such a manner as to be convenient for use, and at the same time may be easily removed for cleansing and quickly replaced for further use.
Finally, the object of my invention is to provide a device of the character described that will be strong, durable, simple and comparatively inexpensive to construct, and also one in which the several parts will not he likely to get out of workin order.
With the above and other 0 jects in view,-
the invention has relation to certain novel features, an example of which is described in the specification and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Flgure 1 is a front elevation of my improved dish showing it in position and ready for use, and Fig. 2 is a vertical section showing in detail the manner in which the plate is secured to the receiving holder or cup, and the manner in which the receiving holder or cup may be secured to the shelf of a childs chair.
Referring now more particularly to the drawing; the numeral 1 designates a plate that may be of any pattern desired, and which to its bottom has a circular cup 2 provided with an ordinary tongue 3 adapted to en age a groove 4 in a corresponding receiving holder or cup 5 which is rigidly secured t0 a'body Sat 7 by set screw 8.
The dish or plate 1 may be made of any suitable material, and instead of the tongue and groove connect-ion shown, other convenient connection may be provided.
v It is also obvious that the plate 1 may be easily and quickly removed and disengaged from the rigidly secured receiving cup 5 and cleansed and replaced quickly for use.
What I claim, is:
In a device of the character described, the combination with a plate, of a cup carried by the plate provided with a tongue adapted to engage the groove in a corresponding receiving cu holder adapted to receive the ,cup carrie by the plate, and means'for securing the said receiving cup to a body.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of ,two subscribing witnesses.
. J ENNIE O. MATTHEWS.
