Be it known that I, AnoLrH W. ELSNER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at the city of St. Louis, in the State of Missouri, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Pencil-Point Sharpeners, of which the following is afull, clear,

and exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, oi this specification.

invention relates to a device providing a sharpener for the points ofde'ad pencils, in which there is one element that serves as a holder for abrasive material and sis a knife casing or pocket member, and a second element that serves as a handle for the first named element and for a knife blade that occupies the pocket in the first hamed element when the knife is not in use.

An iznpertant feature of the abrada-nt holder is the provision of the heads 2 at its ends which are larger than the body of the holder between said heads on which abredant substance is present. As a consequence of the presence of these heads, the abradu-nt surfaces on the holder lie beneath the planes of the sides of the heads and when the holder is laid upon a. piece of paper, such as a drawing, the abradunt surfaces are held out of contact with the paper to prevent the transference of particles of lead to the paper to soil it.

It is obvious that either of the 4 upon the holder of my device may no of such nature as to serve an chi-admit or sharpener -for the ltnife blades, so that said knife blade may he sharpened any time when it becomes dulled, without the necessity of using anything aside from the device itself for sharpening such knife blade.

My device constitutes an extremely ellicient and handy implement. for the use of dra'ltsmen and stenogrephers for the reason that it. includes in :1 single device all the appliances necessary in removing the wood to roduce pencil points and then shmoen sai points.
