UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
RUDOLF SGHWIEDER, OF DRESDEN, GERMANY.
WRINGER-ROLL.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, RUDOLF SCHWIEDER, a subject of the Emperor of Germany, residing at 150 Grossenhainerstrasse, Dresden, N., in the German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in W ringer- Rolls, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to improvements in wringer rolls and consists in constructing said rolls with hollow cores drawn of one piece of metal and reduced at both ends to form journals, longitudinal grooves being provided to hold a rubber coating on the core.
In the annexed drawings the invention is illustrated, Figure l representing a cross section of the two rolls of a wringing machine, Fig. 2, a front view of a core without coating, and Fig. 3, an end portion of a roll in longitudinal section.
The roll consists of a drawn, hollow steel core f, the ends g of which are reduced to form the journals 7L, said journals being closed by plugs 't which may be either screwed in orwelded to the journals in any Specification of Letters Patent.

suitable manner. The outer surface of the core is provided with grooves 7c for the purpose of effecting a rigid joint between said core and its rubber coating, Z.
Vvfringing machines constructed with rolls of this description will be considerably lighter than those commonly used, and also more efficient owing to the elasticity of the core. thickness simply suiiicient to protect the washing.
The closing of the ends or journals of the rolls serves to prevent the water from entering into the interior of the same and so to corrode the steel core.
I claim A roll for wringing machines comprising a hollow, drawn steel core having grooves to hold a rubber coating, journals on said core formed by reducing the ends of the same, and
lugs inserted in said journals to close the latter, substantially as set forth. l
