Soo'rr, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the city of Chicago, in the county of Cook -and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and usefulj Improvements in lthe Dip- I ping Process for Coating Articles, of which I do Ydeclare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description, reference being had to the accompanymg drawing,.forming part of this specification.
In coating artlcles byqthe dipping-process,
l it has long been customary to place within.
the ytank containing' the liquid with which the article is to be coated, mechanical agitators designed to maintain a `uniform character in the body of liquid and prevent any of its heavier ingredients from settling. While the mechanical agitators will serve effectively .for a certain class .Of liquids, such as ordinary paints, I have found thatV when dipping articles ina bath of bronze liquid,
' thesurfaces o f the articles will not be uniforrnly coated, but, asgthe articles, after they have been dip ed, are lifted fromI the tank, there is a ten ency ,of the bronze to settle toward the lower portions of the articles and lto leave the upper ortions in great measure uncovered by the` ronze.
