To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, CLIFTON E. SINGLETON,

a citizen of the United States and of the.

State of New York, residing in the borough of Brooklyn, city and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Christmas-Tree Holders, of which the following is a specification.

My improvements relate to supports for holding the bottoms of Christmas trees, or similar articles, so as to maintain them in an upright position, and my invention consists in the particulars hereinafter pointed out and claimed.

In the drawings, Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improved holder, and Figs. 2, 3 and 4 are similar views of modified forms thereof.

Where the same reference letters are used in different figures, they designate corresponding parts.

The base of the holder is formed of two crossed bars A A, which are secured together,

centrally, by a threaded bolt C provided with a sharp pointed end and carrying a nut c. The upper one of the pieces A has foot blocks a a. under its ends to give the base an even bearing on the floor. 'lo fold the base pieces, the nut 0 may be loosened and the upper piece swung around so as to rest with its ends on top of the lower piece, in which position it may be held by tightening the nut, the bolt (3 being of such a length that,

when the basc pieces are so folded, it will project but little, if any, above the top of the nut c.

In the forms shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 4 the leg members are secured together by bolts f f and nuts 9 g, passing through the appropriate holes, as shown, and which permit of adjustments corresponding in effect to those obtained with the form of Fig. 3 as described.

By screwing off the nuts the legs can be separated, and then unhooked from the base staples, and the leg members may then be packed in the space between the folded base pieces, making a compact and neat arrangement for shipping and handling the holders in knock down form.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is

3. A holder of the class mentioned, combining crossed base-sections, and metallic legs dctachably attached at their lower ends thereto and an adjustable collar band, embodying scrowthreaded members, with which the tops of said legs are connected.
