In a grab bucket, a frame in combination with scoops pivoted thereon, an opening mechanism, a closing mechanism supported by said frame beneath the pivots ol' the scoops and including a flanged drum, a closing cable wound on said drum, a curved channel conformed to thelower side 01' said drum and arranged between the flanges thereof and tie rods connecting said frame and channel, substantially as described.
