Description

N. KESSLER.
ELECTRIC ALARM BELL.

ELECTRIC ALARM-BELL.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 12, 1909.
Application filed May 2'7, 1907. Serial No. 375,852.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, N IKOLAUS KESSLER, a subject of the Emperor of Austria-Hungary, residing at Ragusa, Dalmatia, Austria-Hungary, have invented new and useful improvements in Electric Alarm-Bells, of which the following is a specification.
This invention has for its object an electric al rm bell, the essential feature of which consists in the bell hammer being held by two spring arms, on the ends of which an armature is rovided, under which an electromagnet is ocated, which is connected with a conducting wire of the bell, so that, on the electric circuit being closed the electrolnagnet attracts the armature, the spring arms release the bell hammer and the latter,
in consequence of the current flowing through the electromagnet of the bell, only then-gives the warning signal, with the object of avoiding any unintentional ringing of the bell in consequence of shaking or other vibration.
One form of construction of the invention is shown as an example in the accompanying drawings; in which Figure 1 is an elevation of the bell; and Fi 2, a detail of the same.
According to this invention, an electric bell is provided with a device which re vents the unintentional ringing of the be 1 in consequence of shaking or any other vibra tions. To this end the bell hammer 1 is held by two spring arms 2, on the ends of which an armature 3 is provided, under which an electromagnet 4 connected with the conducting wires of the bell, is located. When, therefore, the electric circuit is closed, the electromagnet attracts the armature 3, the spring arms 2 leave the bell hammer 1 free and the latter, in consequence of the current flowing through the electromagnet of the bell, gives a warning signal. After the circuit is opened the spring arms 2 return to their original position and hold the striking hammer 1 of the electric bell fast.
Having now particularly described and ascertained the nature of my invention, What I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is:
In combination with a bell and a bell hammer, two spring arms, restraining said hammer, an armature on the active ends of said arms, an electromagnet located under said armature and conductor making circuit through said magnet so that on the circuit being closed the electromagnet attracts the armature, the spring arms release the hammer and then only the latter ives the warnin signal, avoiding accidental ringing of the be 1 substantially as set forth.
In testimony whereof I afliX my signature in presence of two witnesses.
NZKOLAUS KESSLER.
