GALL-BELL Specification oi Letters izatent.
Patented Jinn. 5, 19(19.
Application filed. December 19, 1907. Serial No. 407,116.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, SAUL KATE, a citizen 9 of the United States of America, residing in the borough of lillsnhuttou, in th e city, county, and State of New York, have invented a can tain new and useful Improved. Call-Bell. of which the following is a specification. I
The main object of my invention is to construct it simple, inexpensive and ellicient electrically operated call boll, which may be connected up to three different circuits, with a single battery, to give three dillcrcnt sigmils, dependent upon which of the three cii' cuits he closed by their respective push but- 1 tons. i
The View in the accompanying l'lrziwing shows a face View of the call hell, with the circuits indicated diagrammatically.
F is any usual form of metallic l'rzune or base plate su )portiug [our binding posts 1, 2, 3 and 4-, all but number 3 being clcctrically insulated from the frame F. This ironic also sup )orts o gong G in suitz-ihlc position to he,
struck by the hanuncr ll which is carried by the armature i). This arnuiturc is carried by on chistic strip (1 scoured to a projcctionf on the l'rzune and it also has n, spring Contact ll normally lit-wiring against the insulated post D To the some projoctionj securod an ill tic strip c currylngtho buzz/tor ornuiturc E, with its spring contact normally homing 1 against the insulated post lfi. llotwecn the l two urinaturcs are the clcctro-- 'Juignots' Willi two sets of coils M, ill", with common row-s m, m. in the case illustrated, those cores extend out bo ,'ond tho cnds ol the coils to uilord' n con'vonimit means for mounting; tho clectronmgnets upon supporting; posts on the frame F.
The circuits are as follows: The insulating binding post 1 is coi'niocted by wire 5 to the i post l :l11(l thence by Wire 6 to the coils All, and thence by wire 7 to the insulated post 2 To this post 2 is connected tho wire. 54 with l ho i l l g post i is connoctcd to the battery wire 2% by wire, 9 containing push button or other circuit closer S. Tho frame F is connected to l buttery Wire 8, through post 3 and Wire 10 l having push button hi. The insulated. post l 4 is on the one side connocted to the battery Wire 8 through Wire 11 containing push butl ton B, and is on tho other side connected through wire l2 to the pair of coilsM andv Wire 13 to the insulated post E l breaking of the circuit at I), d.
w cut employocs.
When the push button S is pressed the air cuit closed from battery b through post 2, Wire 7, coils M and wires 6, 5 and. 9, thus causing on attraction of the armature and a single bell stroke. i
When the push button 'R is pressed, the circuit is closed from battery I) through post 2, wire 7, coils ll, Vr'lIG 6, post D, contact d, frame ll, post 3 and Wire 10, giving a continuous ring because of thc nudging and The buzzer E operates at the some time, but its noise is drowned by that of the gong G.
When the push lnitt-on B is pressed, the circuit is from battery 6 through post- 2, Wire 7, coils M, wire 6, post D, contact d, frame F, contact ch post E, wire 13, coils M, Wire 12, post l and wire 11. This operates the buzzer ornuiturc E. The windings and :unuitures are so adjusted that when both sets 01 coils M, M, are thus in circuit, oll'ering increased resistance to tho b ttery current, the electronuigncts will not he sulliciently excited to actuate the gong armature D, but will operate the lighter buzzer zunui-turc E.
It will he understood that the three push buttons or other circuit closers S, ll and B only be locutcdnt Widcly different points in :1- huildiug, us for ctuunphi, in on apartment house, to thus control with dil'l'ercnt signals,
o singlc cull bell in nu z1p.-irtnicnt or room. Again the will bell ('(Hlt'tlzltiil/ l'or use in on ollico, :is where o nmnzuror has to will dill'cr- The device simple and inexpensive to nmnuhirture and re uires but :1 single buttory in use.
l vlziini us m i ini'cntiouz 'lhe wnibinotion in on clortronmguetiv coll boll, comprising u metallic base, it gomf, :1 buzzer, a hammer for the gong, and two sets oi lllilifjl'lltlllfi coils, thrco circuits, o circuit closer in uu'h, one circuit passing; through one hot of thc nmgnotic (foils for :L single stroke. onothcr circuit passing through the some set of magnetic coils and it circuit l'ncuhcr for u continuous stroke, :ind,"'tlie third circuit passing through tho othor set of nuiignctic coils for operating the buzzer. 10 5 In testimony whereof I hnfvo signed my nzune to this specification, in the prcscnoe of two subscribing- Witnesses.
