To all whom it may concern:

Be-it known that I, JULIUS UHERKOVICH DE Ummxocz, a citizen of the United States, residing at Bayonne city, in the county of 5 Hudson and State of New Jersey, have, in;

vented certain new and, useful Improvements in Life-Preservers, of which the following is .a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in collapsible bag, expanded by means. of hinged braces or ribs of Wood or other'material within the same, is distended and the bag stretched for thepurpose of holding air.

15 And more especially to those forms of life preservers in which the sustaining power is obtainedby means of air drawn into a hollow body when the'same is expanded, by

means of an 0 en tube which is then closed and theair wit said distendedorexpanded device escapes again as the air-valve is r opened at the will of the operator.

I elect to use in the operation of my device any kind of flexible material for the air bag and for the covering of the same, preferably a cajaiiyaslined with oil or other water-proof coaiiig and impervious to air or water; also any kind of material for the ribs or braces 'within the same, which may be suitable.

ribs consisting of two series of members, one series being a vertical brace or rib and the other a series of curved ribs or braces. The end of each rib, that is the verticalrib 1 and the curved rib 2, is covered by an overlapping canvas strip 3 3 and 4 4 respectively as shown in Fig. 4.
