PIPE AND POST FULLER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June so, 1908.
Application filed January ii, 1908. Serial No. 409,192.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, SAMUEL F. EUBAN K, a citizen of the United States, residing at (.olumbia, in the county of Adair and State of Kentucky, have invented new and useful improvements in Pipe and Post Pullers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to pipe andpost pullers, the object of the invention being to provide a portable device of the class described which is particularly designed for raising and lowering well tubes or pipes, posts and poles of various kinds, and which is adapted especially for use in connection with um s.
With the above and other objects in view,
the nature of which will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts as herein fully described, illustrated and claimed.
In the accompanying drawings :Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device shown in the act 0t lifting a well tube the adjacent wheel being omitted. Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same. Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of the release lever.
The device comprises a pair of carrying wheels I mounted upon and connected by an axle 2 on which is mounted a lever 3 of any desired length to obtain the necessary leverage for the purpose for which the device as a whole is designed.
4 designates a tool box mounted and supported on the side of the lever 3 and resting on the axle shown in Fig. 2.
In carrying out the present invention, a clcvis 5 is mounted on the short arm of the lover and to said clevis is pivotally connected a swinging hanger 6. To the extremity of said hanger 6 is pivotally connected a gripper 7 which has a serrated cam face 8 adapted to bear against the post tube or pipe, as indicated in Fig. 1 by dotted lines at 9. Connected pivotally to. the gripper 7 at the point 10 which point is eccentric to the working face of the gripper is a collar 11 adapted to embrace a pipe tube or post being operated upon. \Vhcn the collar 11 is around the pipe or post as shown in Fig. 1, and the short arm of the lever 3 is raised by hearing down on the longer arm thereof, the hanger 6 is carried upward thereby raising the adjacent end of the gripper 7 causing the working face thereof and the teeth of said working face to oppositely engage the adjacent side of the post or tube, whereby said post or tube is carried upward as the lever is locked in the direction stated. Mounted on the same pivot 12 which connects the gripper 7 to the hanger 6 is a release lever 13 provided with a laterally bent arm or projection. 14 which works under the gripper 7 and is adapted to rock the grip )er upward on the pivot 12 for releasing said gripper from the pipe or rod being operated upon. To the longer arm of the release lever 13'is attached an operating rod or connection 1 5 which extends downward through a suitable guide 16 and is provided with a handle 17 within reach of the operator who may thus release the grip on thepipc or rod whenever it is desired to take a new hold thereon.
18 and 19 respectively designate clips secured to the lever 3 at a suitable distance apart, the same being adapted to receive and support one or-more lengths of pipes which may be thus carried to or from the place of operation.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed'as new, is
1. A device of the class described 'conipris ing an axle and wheels, a lever fulcrumed on said axle, a grip er carried by said lever, and a release lever or operating the gripper to cause the sameto re case its hold on the objeot being operated upon, substantially as described.
2. A device of the class described comprising an axle and wheels, a lever fulcruiued on said axle, a hanger having a jointed connection with said lover, a gripper and collar having a jointed connection with said hanger, and a release lever for operating the gripper to cause the same to release its hold on the SAMUEL F. ICUBANK.

Letters Patent No 5} Eerrection in it is hereby certified that Letters Patent No. 892,236, issued June 30,- 1908, upon the application of Samuel F. Eubank, of Columbia, Kentucky, for an improvement in Pipe and Post P1111ers,,were erroneously granted to the inventor, said Eubank, and Green B. Smith, James Garnett, and.Char1es S. Harris, jointly, Whereas the said Letters Patent should have been granted to the inventor Samuel F. Eubank and Green B. Smith, as assignee of one-third interest, they being sole owners of said invention, as
, shown by the record of assignments, in th s. 05 3e; and that the said Letters Patent shonld be read with this correction therein that the same may conform to the record of the ease in the Patent Office.
