UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
'WALTER J. SMART, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO MARY ZINN, MARTIN ZINN, AND ARTHUR S. ZINN, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SAFETY-RAZOR.
N 0. 881,033. Specification of Letters Patent. Patented March 3, 1908. Application filed January 14, 1905. Serial No. 241,129.
To allwlzom it may concern: stops k can be of the usual construction fa- Be it known that I, WALTER J. SMART, a miller in safety razors. The clam or holder citizen of the United States, residing at I as seen in Fig. 1 can be removed from the Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State frame. On the piece 11 being swung or 5 of New York, have invented new and useful I sna ped back the clamp and blade can be Improvements in Safety-Razors, of which wit drawn or removed from the frame. On

Fig. 4 is a side eleward of the guard), and the inclination of the 7 J vation of Fig. 1. Fig. 5 is a sectional side guard-surface between the extreme edge of elevation of Fig. 1. the guard and the edge of the assembled By means of this invention a safety razor blade, are such as to cause the proper func- 20 can be provided with a blade that can be I tioning of the blade and the guard in the made of narrow and thin material. A narwell known manner during the operation of row blade or one that does not re uire much shaving. Obviously, the clamp can be varimaterial can be furnished at a 0 cap price ously constructed. Such constructions are familiar equal to the length of said blade, a feature of in metal working. These lugs can also act practical utility, since with the use of thin as a gage so that the blade will be properly and narrow plate blades, such as the present inserte or gaged or be prevented from en terrazor is adapted to employ, it is practically ing too far in the clamp by butting or stopnecessary to support the blade throughout its 50 ping against the pivotlugs orlaps. Suchlugs length as otherwise it would tend to spring or stops prevent the blade slipping backward away from the guard at such portions of the or out of position when the parts are asblade as are not backed by a clamping ressembled or the device is being used. The sure, thus interfering with the proper noclips 7t and the spring piece 2' as also the blade tioning of the blade;
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
1. A safety razor having a frame provided with clips adapted to engage a blade, aspringpressedpivotal clamp removably mounted on the frame and adapted to hold the blade in position.
2. A safety razor having a frame provided with a guard, and a spring-pressed pivotal clamp removably mounted on the frame and adapted to hold the blade in position.
' 3. A safety razor having a frame provided with clips adapted to hold a blade, and a s ring-pressed clamp consisting of a pair of c amping members detachably connected with said frame, and adapted to hold the blade in position.
4. A safety razor having a frame provided with a guard, a spring-pressed pivotal clamp removably mounted on the frame and adapted to hold the blade in position, and aspring piece connected with the frame and adapted to contact with the removable clamp for holding the same in position.
5. A safety razor having a frame provided with a guard, a spring-pressed pivotal clamp removably mounted on the frame, and comprising a air of clamping members adapted to hold the blade in position, and a spring piece mounted on the frame and contacting with the removable clamp for holding the same in position.
6. A safety razor having a frame provided with clips adapted to engage ablade, aspringpressed pivotal clamp removably mounted on the frame and comprising a pair of damp ing members adapted to engage the blade, and a spring piece connected with the frame and engaging the removable clamp for holding the same in position.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
