Description

PATBNTED H1325, 1908.
J. HQEARL. 'A-U-TOMATIG'GINGBR ALE DISPENSER.
APPLICATION FILED AUG. 22, 1906. I
' JO'HNQHE'EARL, OF DETROIT, MICHIGAN,
AUTOMATIC- G-INGER-ALEID'ISPENSER.
1 Specification cr mm Patent,- s imsu t filed Augns 1906. sum a 331,674.,
To all whom it may concern: Be it known that 1, JOHN H. EARL, citizen of the United States, residing atrDetroit, county of Wayne, State of Michigan, have invented a certain new and useful Improvementin Automatic Ginger-Ale Dis ensers,"
. and declare the following to be a to 1, clear,
andexact description of the same, such as ence bein had to the accompanying drawother container for-ginger ale.
ings, whic form a part of this specification. My invention relates to an improvement in a pliances for dispensing ginger .ale and like eve z-lges, shown'in the accom anying' drawings and more particularly set orth in the follow mg specification and claims. I
In the drawings:' Fi ure 1 is a side elevation of my invention, s owing it in position in a bottle. Fig-.2 is a central vertical sectionthrough'the appliance, showing parts in elevation. v a It is a well known fact that in-dispensing ginger ale and similar beverages considerable time is wasted forthe "foam to'disappear, in orderto .fill the glass with a solid' drinkz thus, one of the olfjects of my invention is to place upon the market an appliance capable of fillingv a glass by one operation, the construction being such that it may be readily adjusted to discharge a large or small quantity, as required. Other advantages will hereafter appear.-
Referring tothe letters of reference shown in the drawings, A represents-a bottle .or
B is a cylinderpreferably-of its'np'iston-r'od Df rejecting up" through the end-of the sleeve, ,lwhen' it secured by the Hut (1?, Z
. E is a spring housed within the sleeve C,
oneend ofwhicih bears against the top'of the sleeve, while the'oth'er rests upon a plate B mounted on top of the cylinder B-.
" I)? isa relatively short tube sleeved on the position.
a length equal piston-rod D" i in which: is cutan elongated slotd with notched-recesses dtjopening into the same.
Patented Feb. a
d is a pin secured in the is'ton-rod D,
adapted totravel the length 0 the slot 11 andto enter the notches d."; the object beingqto neck or discharge orifice.
adjust the throw or travel of the piston, .as' v will be hereafter explained; will enable others skilled in the artt-o which d the cylinder it pertains to make and use the same, refer- G isa check'valve located in the bottompf the cylinder B, and H is ache'ck valve in the discharge pipe F.
I is a plate desi ned to rest on the neckof the bottle to seal the opening, through which the cylinder B and the discharge pipe F project.
Having indicated the several parts, the operation of the appliance will be readily understood. I The device being in'position in a' bottle filled with ginger ale, or other beverage, the sleeve C is forced down, carrying the piston with it. On being released the spring forces the piston back to its initial position,
as shown in. the drawings, the suction lifting the valve G and drawing up into the tube the beverage. Therefore,-so long as the bottle contains a fluid, whenever the sleeve is forced down a given quantity of the beverage will be forced out of the discharge pipe F, the check valve H closing against the en'- try of air as the piston returns to its initial In order that set predetermined "amount in'ay be discharged at each-operation, the sleeve D is adjusted along the and locked by means of the pin 'It will iston rod be thus seen that the travel of the piston is limited b the end. of the sleeve D contacting with t e plate B, the spring E being thus adjusted so that it may be compressed toa greater-or less extent as required. Having thus described my invention, what I claim In an appliance fordispensing liquids, a
