Be it known that we, JOHN R. DRAPER and THOMAS L. HUGHEs, citizens of the United States, residing at Hennessey, in the county of Kingfisher and State of Oklahoma, have invented a new and useful Barbers Stool, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to stools for us by barbers and its object is to provide a device of this character designed to be placed adj acent a barbers chair, and which can be occupied by the barber While attending a customer within the chair.

It is a well known fact that corns and similar growths upon the feet, rheumatism of the legs, etc., are produced as a result of constant standing and owing thereto barbers are constantly abandoning their trade.

It is the object of the present invention to provide simple means whereby a barber may remain seated while attending a customer and can readily shift his position whenever desired without the necessity of leaving the stool on which he is seated.

WVith these and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims.

In the accompanying drawing is shown the preferred form of the invention.

Said drawing is a perspective view of the stool in position adjacent a barbers chair.

Referring to the drawing by characters of reference, 1 is the base or body of the stool, the same being curved from end to end in the arc of a circle and preferably for about ninety degrees and this body is supported at the ends thereof and at intermediate points by legs 2. Concentric arcuate rails 3 are secured upon the body adjacent the edges thereof and each of these rails is preferably formed of a channel iron, one of the flanges 4 constituting the part on which the carriage hereinafter described travels while the other or upper flange of the rail acts as a guard to prevent displacement of the carriage. Stop pins 6 connect the two flanges of each rail at the ends thereof. Mounted between the rails and upon the flanges 4 is a carriage 7 having rollers 8 the axes of which are disposed along lines extending radially across the body 1 and this. carriage is provided with a tubular standard 9 having a screw threaded stem 10 mounted therein and projecting downward from the seat 11. A covering preferably in the form of a sheet 12 of rubber or other suitable material is secured upon the body and extends between the rails.

When it is desired to use the stool herein described. the same is placed adjacent a barbers chair such as has been indicated at A, one end of the body 1 being preferably located back of the chair while the other end is arranged at one side thereof as shown in the drawings. The barber, when waiting upon a customer, seats himsel upon the stool after adjusting the seat 11 to the proper height and by placing his feet upon the covering 12 he can push the carriage 7 to any desired osition upon the body without necessarily caving the seat 11.

What is claimed is.

1. A stool comprising a body, supports therefor, oppositely disposed curved channel irons concentrically arranged upon the body, a carriage interposed between said irons, supporting rollers connected to the carriage and moved within the irons, and a seat adjustably connected to the carriage, that portion of the body between the channel irons constituting a foot rest for the occupant of the seat.

2. The combination with a barbers chair having a curved body supported adjacent thereto and partly surrounding the same of oppositely disposed concentric channel irons upon the body, a carriage interposed between the irons, supporting rollers connected to the carriage and. movable within the channel irons, and a seat adjustably connected to and supported by the carriage, that portion of the body between the irons constituting a foot rest for the occupant of the seat.
