; --Be itknown that I, EDWARD E. PALMER, a :citizen'of'the United States, residing at Wooster, inthe county of Wayne and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade and Curtain. Fixtures, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to improvements in in connection with windows and similar places where it is desired to attach and suspend Window shades and curtains or draperies.

The invention relates more particularly to that class of shade and curtainfixtures in which'the'curtain-pole bracket is secured to the shade-roll Brae et; and in my invention the shade-roll bracket is adjustably-attached to the side of the window frame byan imroved fastening-device requiring the use of ut one'sere'w. l .Tbe-primary object of the invention isto produce a generally-improved device of this .class' which will ,be exceedingly simple in construction, chea of manufaature, eflicient in use, and much: etter adapted to its intended purposesthan any lother device of the same class with which I' am' acquainted.

Another object of the invention is to provide a. enerally-imp'roved attaching device adjustal aly supporting both the shade-roll and curtain-pole bracket and which may heeasilyattached to or removed from the sides of any ordinary window-frame. A single scr'ewis-required for each attachingdevice "and this screw also performs the additional function of clamping the shade-roll bracket in any position to which it may be moved horizontally to conform to shade-rolls and curtain-poles of varying lengths.

With these and other ends in view, the inventlon consists inthe novel constructlon, arrangem'ent and combination of parts, hereinafter-described, illustrated in the accompa- .nying drawings, and particularly pointed out 1n the appended claims.

The shade-roll bracket of the improved fixture is made up of a single blank ofsheet metal, as shown in Fig. 5, and is bent to form a main supporting-plate 1, and an outwardly-extending L-shaped shank portion 2, terminating in a bracket-head 3, provided with the usual openings 4, for taking over the end pins of the shade-roll 5. The shank portion 2, is provided with laterally-extending T-shaped wings 6, as shown mos-t'clearly in Fig. 5, which wings are bent at right angles to the main body portion of the shank 2, and at the rear of the off-set portion 2*, thereof, as shown most clearly in Fig. 2, forming guide-sockets or recesses 7, at the upper and lower edges of the shank for the reception of vertically-arranged uide-shanks or pins of the curtain-pole brac rets to be hereinafter described.

The main supporting-plate 1, is provided with. a longitudinally-extending guide-slot 8-, and at the outer end of this slot and at the rear of the shank portion 2, an opening 9, and guide-recesses 10, are formed to receive and take over the head 11, of the attaching and clamping-screw 12 and upper and lower edges 13, of the attaching-plate or block 14. The upper and lower edges 13, extend along .the front of the sup orting-plate, and the guide-recesses 15, at t 1e rear of the attachingplate (see Fig. 4,) form ways for the reception of the edges of the supporting-plate along the guide-slot 8.

The tang-heads 16, are adapted to impinge against the faces of the window-frame when the attaching-tangs 17, have been driven home by tapping upon the plate or block 14.
