To all whom it 'mo/y concern Be L known that I, JOSEPH J. BAXTER, of Grand Rapidsin the county of Kent, and'State of Michigan, have in ented a new and. useful Improvement in Bed- Bottoms; an/d I do hereby declare that the following is a full and 'exact description thereof', reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the'letters The coiled springs B are bent in a conical form, asl shown in iig. 1, with the broad end of the coil upward,

for the canvas to rest upon, while the apex, or point of the coil, is attached to one of theseries of bars O, which are connected together by the bars I).

At each'corner ofthe bedbottom is an oblique springi brace, E, the outer end of which is attached to the frame A, and the other end is attached to the second bar, O.

- By the above-described arrangement ofsprin -braces, in connection with the series of bars, G and B, t e coiled springs do not require the usual fastening with cords;

yet the Whole system of springs, and also the separate springs, are kept in proper place, and work in the best` manner.

Having thus fully described my invention,

I claim the combination of the oblique .spring-braces with the bars and the coiled springs, substantially as set forth.
