UNITED STATES PATENT oEEIoE.
EMIL Lr'iBoxE, or MERSEBURG, GERMANY.
COMBINED ELEVATOR AND BUILDERS CRANE FOR MOVING HEAVY BUILDING 1 MATERIALS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 24, 1907.
Application filed January 12, 1907- Serial No. 352,059.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EMIL LT'IBOKE, merchant, a subject of the King of Prussia and German Emperor, residing at Merseburg, in
the Kingdom of Saxony and German Empire, have lnvented certain new and useful Improvements in Builders Cranes, belng a -combination of an elevator and a conveyer crane intended for shifting heavy blocks of I sandstone, for hoisting the building material and the like purposes.
It consists of brackets overhanging towards the building being arranged vertically adjustable on posts; erected in front of the building on said brackets a rail for a traveling crane is fitted two of the brackets extend in the opposite direction, away from the building and form ways for a truck which carries the part of the crane-ways between these brackets. Hereby it is rendered possible to conveniently lift and convey the building materials and the like up to the place of consumption.
In the accompanying drawing the present invention is exemplified in an elevation, Figure 1', a side-elevation, Fig. 2, and a plan,
Fig- 0.
The fixed posts a in front of the.
building consist of wood or girder-iron, to which a rod b with projecting lugs is attached. To said posts are fitted the brackets c overhanging towards the building and vertically adjustable. On these brackets is rigidly attached a way d', generally made of T -girders, on which travels a crane -emoved by hand or power drive. At a given part of the structure two of the posts a are arranged nearer to each other, and to each of these two posts is attacheda bracket extending to both sides. On these two brackets travels a small truck i, to which the portion of the crane-ways d between these two brackets is attached. The brackets with ways and traveling crane can be raised as the progress of the work requires by means of pulley blocks f-, which are attached to the projecting arms -g of the posts.
h are safety pawls, which catch behind the projecting lugs of rods -b, in
order to prevent the brackets from falling down should the ropes of the pulley blocks fbreak.
The work proceeds as follows: When the materials are being hoisted the crane stands on the short end of the ways under truck i, the truck standing in the position shown in Figs. 2 and 3 by the dotted lines. As soon as the load is raised, the truck is run to the place of work until the part of the ways carried by it is in line with the rest of the fixed ways d. Now the traveling crane with its load can be moved to either side on the fixed ways -dto where it may be required.
Having now described my invention What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States is:
1. A builders crane, consisting of posts erected in front of the building to which brackets overhanging towards the building are attached vertically adjustable and carrying the ways for a traveling crane, two of said brackets being arranged nearer to each other and extending also in the direction away from the building, as described.
2. A builders crane, consisting of posts erected in front of the building to which brackets overhanging towards the building are attached vertically adjustable and carrying the ways for a traveling crane, two of said brackets being arranged nearer to each other and extending also in the direction away from the building, a truck traveling on the crossways formed by said two brackets, as described.
3. A builders crane, consisting of posts erected in front of the building to which brackets overhanging towards the building are attached vertically adjustable and carrying the ways for a traveling crane, two of said brackets being arranged nearer to each other and extending also in the direction away from the building, a truck traveling on the crossways formed by said two brackets, said truck carrying the portion of the main longitudinal ways between said two brackets, as described.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses. EMIL LUBCKE.
Witnesses:
EMIL GEORGE, RUDOLPH FRIoKE.
