- cnnnn'r FENCE-POST.
signed fastening means for the line wires these fastening means .are formed of one piece of metallic wire, which is bent in the form of a loop, which is assed through any' fie post, leav ng the free end of the wire to be bent about the outer circumference of the post, so as to allow {the ends thereof to be coiled about the line Wires; This invention com )rises further objects and combinations of elements which wilLbe hereinafter more fully, described, shown in the accompanying drawings, and the novel features thereof will be pointed out by the appended claims;
To obtain a full and correct understanding of the details of construction, combinations of features,- elements and advantagesyrefen once is to be had to the hereinafter set forth description and the accorn anying drawings, in connection therewith, w erein I Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved fence-post embodying the features of l the invention. sectional view on line 3-3 of Fig. 2. Fig. 4 is a detail view of the fastening means, for the line wires, detached from the post. Fig. 5 is a detail view of the loops 5, showing the corrugations 10 which engage the line wires 8 to preventlongitudinal displacement thereof. Fig. 6 isa detail sectional view on lirie 66 of Fig. I
Making renewed reference to the accompanying drawings, wherein similar reference characters indicate corres onding parts in the several illustrations, 1 esignates a fencepost, which is composed of cement, and emedded in which is a pair of metallic cores 11, as clearly shown in Fig. 3 of the drawings. 5
The apertures 4, receive the loops 5 of the fastemng means 6, which engage the line wires. The loops 5, are provided with a plu- 5 Specification of Letters Patent. 'Application filed August 16.1907. Serial No, 388.398.

rality of serrations or corrugat ons 10, which prevent longitudinal dis lacement of the line Wires 8 as-shown clear y in Figs. 1, 5 and 6. To form the said loops the fastening is bent upon itself, as clearly shown, and the remaining portions of'the said Wires-are bent aboutthe outer circumference of the cement post, so as to allow their extreme ends 7 to be coiled about the line wires 8, as clearly shown in Fig. 1. The metallic cores 11, are provided with a plurality of serrated portions 12, nvhich have a tendency to cause the cement to adhere to said cores, as clearly shownin Fig. 2.
and modifications may be employed in the construction and embodiment thereof, comscope of the invention covered by the claims thereof; it being understood that whatever variations or modifications are employed must fall within'the scope of the appended claims.
From the foregoing essential features, eleinents and the operation of the device, together 'with the sim clearly apparent.
Having thus fully described the invention, what is claimed as new and useful by the pro- ,-tection of Letters-Patent, is
Ina fence post, composed of cement having transverse apertures,'said posts having metallic coresprovided witlrcorrugations or serrations 12, fastening means for-the line wires, comprising a single. piece of wire bent in its center and upon itself to form a loop, adapted to be inserted through said apertures, the said loop having a plurality of=ser rations to engage the line wires to prevent longitudinal dis ilacement thereof, the ortion of the wire )eyond the loop surroun ing the body of the ost and having its ends coiled about the line wires, as'and for the l purpose specified. i In testimony whereof I hereunto affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
