POSTAL MAILING-CARD.
No. 873,024. Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Dec. 10, 190
Application tiled September 11.1906. $ria1No. 334.163.
'0 all who! 'it may eonm'n:
Be it known that l, Dwnnrr W. tus'ruu, a resident of Broolt'lyn. in the county ol' Kings anu State of New Yorlt, have invented cer tain new and useful lmprovements in lostal Mailingiards and 1 do hereby declare the following to be a lull. clear, and exact description of the invention. such as wil en able others skilled in the art to which it appertains to lttalit and use tl ame.
My invention relate o improvements in postal mailing caatls. and more ]):ttllt'tll:\tl
t-o improv ed eards containing one or more impro vet'l shipping tags. one ol which latter lwhfi: employed to lock the card in folded position for transmission through the mails.
'ith these and other objects'in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction and combinations and arrangements of parts as will be more tally hereinafter described and pointed out in the claims.
In the accompanying drawingsT Figure l i? a view showing the card before l'olding. Fig. 2 is a view showing the card 'l'olde'd. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the device when folded, and Fig. -l is a detail view of one of the shipping tags.
1 represents the-main sheet, which is folded 0n the lines 22 and 33, the latter line of fold being preferably perforated or so wea ened as to permit the tags -l-. to be readily torn from the sheet. The shipping tags 4, are formed. by slitting the sheet at two points, longitudinally from the fold 3 J3 to the end of the sheet. and the paper forming the tags is folded at the end. upon. itself. and incloses a cord 5 in the told, all of which told is securely glued together.- and a pcrloratlon 6 is provided in the folded end. to receive at 00rd to attach the tag to apachage. The ends of the tags are also prel'erabtv cut at an angle, as is customary. The tags prel'erably contain the address ol the party sending out t'oldable portion, one of said tags adapt the mailing cards, to tacilit. ol" goods to him, and a c: ,is especially valuab chants and the \e'. v
A slit 7 isilormed in the end of the sheet, to receive the central shipping tag, as clearly ,shown. to secure the card in l'olded position, audit is to be understood that any number ol tags may be 'l'ormed on' the card, as may be desired. By securing the cord 5 in the 'lolded end of the tag. the strength and wearing qualities of the tag is greatly increased, and the tag is a great improvement in the art:
A great many slight changes might be made in the general lorm and arrangement .ol the parts described without departing from my invention. and hence, I do not restrict myself to the precise details set forth but consider myself at liberty to'malie such slight changes and alterations as fairly l'all within the spirit and scope of my invention.
llaving fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters-Patent is 1* l. A mailing device comprising a body portion t'oldable upon itself, and aseries o'l" the shipping of this character "to commission mersaid body portion and toldable between the two members of the ioldable body portion.
2. A mailing card comprising a foldablc body portion, having a slit, and a. series of detachable tags integral with one edge ol' said body portion and t'oldable into the said able to be passed over the tree edges of the folded body portion, and pass through the slit in the latter.
in testimony whereot, 1 have signed this specification in the presence ol two subscribing witnesses.
